finally got the weight down... i think?!?

so here's what i'm doing this year on the 22i. supposedly this setup will work really well. in the past i've tried front weighted, rear weighted, and mid weighted. plus everything in between. i'm anxious to get out this week and see the wake.

    looks good.
I put more weight in the back of my 22v because you can control it with TAPS

yeah the bag upfront is a 750 so i figured i'd just add a little or let some out to tune as well as using taps. i didn't put it on there but if you take into consideration that my year model 22iR has a 49 gallon gas tank at the very back it plays a huge role in adding extra weight to the back. i generally top if off everytime out. good input though because my hull and yours aren't that much different just placement of motor weight basically.

Ya know what would be cool, a bow filler over the bow sac but it would probably be too high.

i've been wanting to get rid of the 750 for two custom sacs that fit under the front seats. then i'd like to run a split hose setup to each of those so i can fill both at the same time with one pump.

Ya know, Flying High makes a u-shaped sac that fits under the front seats. It's a 750, but I doubt you'd get that much in there. I estimate I can get 600-650. I have a 150 portable sack that is a lot easier to get around in the walkway when I need it. If we're surfing, the 150 gets moved to the side we're surfing on.

typerider-- why are you doing 50/50 instead of 40/60? Just curious.

With the 22i you wont be able to get that much weight under the bow cushions. you just have to have it in the walk way and deal with it like i do if you want enough weight

i've done 40/60 before and it works pretty well. i was just going to try this out to see what happened. if i don't like it i'll just move some stuff around and make it work. but like i said earlier i always top off the tank and since its around 47-49 gallons i was curious to see if the 50/50 setup would work better. the 40/60 gets pretty washed out sometimes seems like too much in the back. we'll see what happens after i put the new steering cable in and take it out this weekend. i thought about that huge v shaped sac but i'm pretty sure it won't fit under the seats and i don't want it on the seats. the 750 sac works great, plus it sits about as high as the seats so it turns the bow into a lounge.

                      so finally took tried it

this is the 50/50 setup at 25-26mph. sweet spot is 70ft out. wakes weren't that big but they were stout and clean. shaped up to a little less than knee high (i'm 6'1"). i think it needs more weight to the rear for sure. will put up more pics next time out. 1st pic from 2-9-2008 with almost 2000lbs in. 2nd pic is a pic of me riding terribly and shot on 10-12-2007. as you can see the wake is much flatter and that was at a weak 65ft out. we only had like 300lbs in the back and 50lbs up front that day. for sure moving more weight to the back next time.

My experience, and others, that much weight up front will just negate your taps. And with a direct drive, I would try to get more weight in back.

for sure! i agree with you. next time i'm moving a few hundred more to the rear. we were just experimenting to see what would happen.

If I remember right the 01's have a section cut out where the side of the hull and the bottom of the hull come together in the back. These sections have always created a problem with tuning the wake.

I'm the rookie here, as far as tiges go, but from what I understand, a 60 - 40 is supposed to be ideal in these boats. What kind of storage do you have under the windshield? Could you get around 600 in there?
