    props

hey everybody if you have the newest wakeboarding magazine you'll notice that the recommended prop for the 2006 22i is a 13x12. my 2001 22i type-r has a 4-blade prop. i haven't checked the size and pitch yet but i was wondering if that prop is better for the 22i's for some reason? i put in over a thousand pounds for wakeboarding so should i just stay with my 4-blade? just curious if anyone knows whats up with those numbers.

I run a Acme 13x12 on my 22i. However, Acme recommended a different 3 blade for use with substantial ballast. If you call or e-mail Acme will recommend the optimal prop based on altitude, ballast, etc. See link for FAQ on 3 vs 4 blade.

Definately call ACME. They are great to work with. Don't guess, just call. I got a 13 x 11.5 .060 3 blade for my '00 22i. It replaced the stock 13 x 13 4 blade OJ. It's like getting a new boat. It jumps out of the hole regardless of ballast or people, speed holding is outstanding and I picked up a few mph on the top end as well. Deffinately one the best upgrades you can do for your boat.

wow i had no idea that we should be running 3 blades. guess i just figured it had the right one from the factory since everybody is always boasting about 4 blades and wakeboarding and all. good info. i'll email acme immediately and get one for next season.

Once you find out which prop you want scroll down to the Off Topic Discussion section and I think Coach is trying to set-up a prop group buy with Acme. You can post what you want and maybe get it for a little less.

Well, my boat came with a 3-blade stainless. Then after a while, the recommended moving to a 4-blade. Now I've gone back to a 3-blade. Less cavitation on the hole shot when fully loaded.

I don't keep track anymore, but it would have had to improve. I don't have to use the motor nearly as much when towing or cruising. My average fuel consumption used to be 14-15 gal p/day. It was down to 12-13 gal p/day with the new prop.

If I run over 800 lbs of ballast I get a some cavitation with my ACME 515 13x12 3 blade. I haven't pulled the trigger on the ACME recommended prop to run w/ballast. I need to find a prop demo program.

I just called ACME (1-888-661-ACME) and they recommended a model 525 13 x 11.5 (3 blade) when running with ballast on my 04' 22i (.5 pitch less than I'm running without ballast).

                          Give them a call...very helpful

got word back yesterday on my situation ('01 22i type r) heres the skinny:

If you are currently running a 13 L 13 4 blade propeller then you would want the Acme 525 13 LH 11.5 three blade nibral 1 1/8" bore .080 cup. This propeller sells for $419.00. One other question? Is your main usage wake boarding & wakesurfing? If so then you may want to choose the Acme 653 13LH 11.5 three blade nibral 1 1/8" bore .060 cup. This propeller also sells for$419.00.

pricey but probably worth it. anyone know what the nibral means? hahah
