That's a good question. All I know is that it's Carburetor 8 cylinder (Inboard) with no drains for the hoses.

I think where Lee is going is that you probably have more plugs than 4. I have a total of 6 plugs.

All manufactures put the plugs in different places. If I knew what engine i could help with the plug location.

And I couldn't think of any reason anyone wants or needs factory manuals

Yeah.....I was just jabbing a stick in an old wound. A while back some were wondering why we would want factory manuals. I do everything myself, so I hate not at least something to go by when I start a job. Some people get raped by marinas all year.....I like keeping my money more than that.

i refuse to take my boat to a dealer, in less it's warranty. I mean hello, boats are the last piece of toy I can work on. My f250, yeah right,my z? give me a break they are the most complicated piece of equipment in the world! It's hard enough changing the oil on my two rigs, let alone working on them. AT least boats you still can, for a while! I do all the work I can on my OWN!

Still trying to figure out why you guys pull drain plugs.....they are there to pop out if it gets so cold the water starts to freeze. Mine will not come out unless they pop out as they are identical to a regular car blocks freeze plugs.....no way to pull them without a tool.

FYI I only have 4 large plugs too. MarinePower Sport Pac. I also have some type of drain bolt on the star side at the lower part of the block. I am pretty sure it's a drain plug.

I drain the manifolds and pull the impeller hoses. Doesn't get cold enough for much more.

LOL, we're not talking about freeze plugs, but the pipe thread plugs in the block and petcock plugs in the manifolds.

by the way, freeze plugs, as they are called, are not there for that reason. The holes are there to remove the inner part of the engine block mold after the block is cast. They can and do pop out if a block freezes, but not always before the block cracks. That is why they are called "freeze plugs".

Ah....now your conversations make sense....Although someone was talking about a block cracking.....??

And yes I am aware that is not their primary function. They are leftover holes from the casting process. The plugs are just a byproduct.

                            Type of Engine

                            Lee,
My bad for the delay - I've got a Marine Power Vortec 307 engine. I did find an additional screw I can take out in the impeller housing that will drain out residual water. Other than that, I still only take 4 drain plugs out for winter use.
