    Exhaust Leak 2100i

I have a small leak that seems to be coming from the back side of the fiberglass exhaust tube. I have just dealt with it by pumping bilge water for a couple seasons and thinking about a more permanent fix. I can't get to the hose clamps to tighten it up due to the fuel tank.

I think I remember reading that some have replaced the fiberglass tubes with stainless ones. Is this an option? It looks like a straight tube... Any downsides to replacing with stainless?

Do these leaks get progressively worse/am I risking a major event by putting this off?

Also, how big of job is it to pull the fuel tank? I have ballast pumps and a shower pump that I'll need to pull which lengthens the job.

I have a new set of stainless exhaust from Fresh Air Exhaust. I chose to replace them before they started leaking. I haven't installed them yet, but I have them.

I don't know about the 21i but my 22i has a section of the floor that lifts up and out to gain access back there.

I've seen some repairs where guys lay some more chopped mat and resin over leak and stopped it. Also seen guys try this and the repair doesn't stand up and will start to leak again.

Did you get the straight pipes or did you get the baffles?

Thanks for the info, I have FAE and had a good experience so that's good to know they do that as well. I do have a rear section of floor that gets me access to the front section of the tube, but it disappears under the gas tank.

Any comments on how hard it is to pull the gas tank?

Can't get to the boat for a couple days, but there are some good pictures in my ballast install thread. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...all&highlight=

There's access to that area but it sucks as you most likely know. There's no room to work. It's probably worth it just to pull the tank. Pulling the tank isn't that hard. It's dealing with the fuel that's still in it that's hard. Try get it as empty as possible first. I still had a good 5gal in mine when I pulled it and it was really a PITA. It's kind of an awkward piece to move but throw 5gal of sloshing fuel to the mix and it can get diabolical if your not careful.
