transom mounted ski pylon?

Hello I am looking for some help, I would like to mount a rear ski pylon on my boat. Last summer we purchased a 1997 Tige' 2000 SLM-COMP. We love the boat and have enjoyed pulling our 7 year old and his friends. I would love to add a rear mounted ski pylon to our boat to get the rope out of the wake when he is on the kneeboard or tube. I'm not sure I wont to sink 3K into a tower for this boat yet, because we would like to upgrade in the next couple of years. I would like to have the back seat space for passengers. Now we pull them from the ski pylon if we do not have a lot of passengers or we pull from the middle hook on the transom so we can use the back seat. If anyone has done this please post pics. Any suggestions of ideas are greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

I've wondered about this rear hook as well. My boat doesn't have one, but the boat I am looking at buying does. How much weight can that hook handle? We usually tow two tubes with one person each, with two ropes. Will that tow hook handle that weight? I've read not to use the tower for towing tubes.

I agree with chpthril a cheaper tower will be your best bet, and will help you sale it in a few years too. Note I wouldn't pull a tube off of one though. You can get a tube rope ball to keep the rope out of the water when pulling off the transom.

I haven't tried it but most say they work pretty good. We pull the tube off of the pylon still.

I guess if your worried about the tow hook, you could always snag one of these guys and tow from your lifting eyes... I would imagine they're stronger..

Thanks for the input guys. We have the tow ball booster and it does work great when towing tubes. The only down side it's one more inflatable to carry on the boat.
