    Speedo vs Perfect Pass

I have an '02 22i. The dash speedo reads about 6-7 MPH slower than speed on PerfectPass. Which is more accurate? I think the PP as it is closer to what I would expect based on RPM, but I just am not certain. Unfortunately, I do not have a GPS to check. Any thoughts?

    PerfectPass versus Speedo

I have a similar situation (5 to 7 mph disparity). I also don't have GPS, but all the seasoned riders suggest that my PerfectPass reading is correct (they know their perfect speed within 0.5 mph). This doesn't help you (as your situation may be reversed) but I'd suggest that you get an experienced rider to comment (cheaper than a GPS system). My Tige (2001) has a Speedo adjust knob next to the fuses under the throttle (presumedly for the Tige Speedo) but it doesn't appear to have any effect.

I recently ran across the same thing (I haven't played with my Perfect Pass much) Speedo Reads 20-21 PP reads 18-19. Mine's an '05.

I can tell you that perfect pass uses a different speedo wheel than the tige gauge. The perfect pass wheel is a through hull design placing it more centered under the boat making it more accurate when properly calibrated.

can anyone tell me where a perfect pass pick up is supposed to be located on a 21i? I have mine on and it struggles to keep a constant speed. I didn't think it was that big of a deal until I drove my friends 05 24v and his is rock solid. Mine will vary from .5-1mph His was dead on. It's even worse on turns.

          Thanks.

Have you tried to change any of the variables to see if that helps holds a more constant speed.

as in what variables? I have played around with the options in perfect pass and it doesn't change anything.

On our 2003 21i the pickup is near the transmission. Check your servo motor. We had the same problem and it turned out the servo was shot. So the knob on the servo should be able to turn freely and if it doesnt you need a new one.

knob on the servo motor? as in the engine compartment? My pick up is located behind the engine, behind the fresh water pick up, I think. I'll look when I get back to OK to pick her up next week. I will check the servo motor as well, where is that located? I wonder if that is a warranty

The servo is hose clamped to one of the large hoses on the front of the engine. Follow the throttle cable you cant miss it. Thats odd that its behind the fresh water pickup. Ours is on the passenger side by the tranny. Ours wasnt under warranty i dont know about yours. If its not it will set you back $100. Its simple to reinstall though.

I can't remember off hand, I haven't looked at my boat since aug. I'll look and get back with you. Does it have a knob? (the servo)

Its that circular black thing with a yellow sticker on it. Theres a knob on the other side where the throttle cable wraps up. If it does not turn freely you need a new one. If it does you probably need to change your variable setting things. Although they should be fine. I have some papers and stuff on the wakeboard pro PP, i assume you have that version. Feel free to ask more questions.

Servo motor and bracket, the motor is on the backside of this bracket.

ok, I Know excactly which knob you are talking about now. A friend told me he has to go move his and make sure it's not stuck, if I recal it's never turned freely, but I will check when I get the boat and haul it back to CA and go from there. Thanks guys, and I'll bring this thread back to life in two weeks

I would also say that the paddlewheel shouldn't be inline with the pick-up because that would cause turbulence right in front of the paddlewheel, could even account for the fluctuating speed if the wheel was changing rotation speed as a cause of it. When I installed mine I did it across the keel from the pick-up but about the same distance up the from the keel so I knew it would not interfere with trailer bunks.
