    depth finder wiring question

So I installed a depth finder in my 1995 Tige, and it works great, until I drop the boat into forward. The power is cut off when in forward gear. Not reverse, not neutral, but just in forward. I wired the power off of the ignition switch. Nothing else looses power in forward. Is there a different lug off the key I should have wired it to?

Thats kind of interesting. It sounds to me more of a grounding issue vs a (+) issue. Where did you ground it to?

Did you use the purple wire or the yellow with red? Purple is keyed power, red is constant power and yellow with red is through the neutral safety switch.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I used purple. Will fix in the morning and try again. Thanks boat wakes!

That would do it. I'm use to on older boat the safety switch breaking the ground vs the (+). Learn something new every day.

            Yep. That completely fixed it.
