    Uneven floor

We have a Switch i (I believe it is the same hull as the 20i) manufactured in Australia. One side of the front of the deck does not meet the floor - it appears the floor is uneven - the left side of the floor is lower than the right and therefore the floor and deck do not meet. The gap is so big in some places I can put my fingers in there. Any water in the boat pools on this side and as a result the water is always leaking into the bottom of our dry storage in behind the left seat. Not to mention the fact that it looks terrible.

We've tried talking to the Manufacturer about this issue. We believe we've been given a second boat, but he claims there is no such thing. I'm happy to acccept the boat in its condition if it can be proved to me that this is normal. But without seeing photos of other boats the same as this I find this very hard to believe. Does anyone else have a gap between the deck mould and carpet on one side of the front bow area and back to the center of the boat? Surely this cannot be the way these so called quality boats are produced?

This is the remaining issue in a very long list of poor manufacturing problems that we have taken a year to resolve with the manufacturer. There appears to be no fix for this - but open to any suggestions.

Tige great to see the article about customer satisfaction. I'm guessing this was only surveyed of customers buying from the United States. Would be intresting to conduct a survey down in our part of the world - we are awar of other boats in this country with worse manufacturing problems than ours - I do wonder how widespread this is? After sales service has also been at times non-existant. Its been a real fight to get assistance to fix the problems.

I'll see if I can find the photos - we sent them to the manufacturer about a year ago and the boat isn't stored in the same place we live so can't easily take another photo (won't be at the location of the boat for 2 weeks). But I'll see if I can find one for you.

Just imagine the bottom of the fibreglass in the bow below where you sit - the gap being large enough to stick your fingers in between the fibreglass and floor carpet.

It sounds like you need to have the floor trim installed. This is a piece of carpet 2 inches wide that goes around the floor section. Also the manufacturer in Australia is a different company that Tige in the USA. Any boat that was manufacturerd in Aus., must be delt with by that manufacturer. There have been some changes but I can not get into that at this point. Please contact Tige Aus at 7-5597-5686 and speak to Adam and ask about the carpet boarder trim. If he has any questions please have him call me.

Thanks Andrew, that does sound like a really good solution. We have been talking to Adam from Australia Tige for the last year about this and he still hasn't been able to give us a solution, in fact he won't admit there is a problem with the way it is. We have sent him photos as we are based in New Zealand not Australia, so he can't view it directly. I'm wondering if maybe he doesn't have the same Trim in Australia, given he hasn't suggested this. Any chance you have a photo I can show him to see if he could source something similar? My email address is lena@infotool.com

Adam and I have been in constant contact but have been uanble to find a resolution - but maybe this is the answer.

Here is some photo's. I think its really poor workmanship, but let me know what you think. Keen to see if the American produced boats are finished differently to this.

I was under the impression that the top deck was supposed to be glassed into the floor. I don't see how that's possible with carpet running underneath it....

Yes we were expecting that too. We bought the boat based on the DVD we were given and brochure talking about the great manufacturing. But seems the brochures and DVD come from the American producer and the Australian manufacturer who made this boat under license must do it a different away. But the dealer gave us these brochures - so false advertising if you ask me. The workmanship throughout the boat was terrible when it arrived in New Zealand for us. We have been slowly fixing it over the past year.

This issue causes our dry lockers to be wet all the time and looks terrible. But the manufacturer just laughed when I talked to him about it.

This is the trim that I am refering to. This will cover any inperfections that are close to the floor and the gelcoat. It is approx 2 inches wide and has carpet wrapped around it. It installs with screws and this will cover the gap. I will try to contact Adam and advise his to order some of this. If you can also get a hold of him and show him this picture we can ship this stuff to him. Again look at the base and you will see the carpet trim.

                    I hope this helps you.
