Carb Identification?

I have an 05 20i with a Holley Carb on the 5.7 Marine Power. Have had idle problems and want to replace with Edelbrock Carb. Can't find any tag or stamp on the Holley. Does anyone know the carb model number so I can match to the right new carb?

What is it off the Holley that you need to know in order to purchase the Edelbrock? CFM maybe? Since the engine is not an HP performance engine, I would think that Edelbrock would have a fairly easy listing for that motor.

Also, have you tried to diagnose and repair the idle problems? May not even be related to the carb. If it is, they are so easy and cheap to rebuild.

Are you sure it is a carb on an 05? I would have thought they were all efi by then.

If you can find an old mechanic who is a carb specialist they could probably re-build the carb and have it better than new. I had a rochester 4 barrel on my old boat and it was tough to find a Rochester guy but I got lucky and had it rebuilt and it's still running great.

Sorry Dom, the old mechanic line was meant out of respect, rebuilding carbs is fast becoming a lost art. Even the middle aged mechanic at my local mercruiser dealer rebuilt the carb wrong. He forgot a spring. Luckily, after the engine still didn't fire after his rebuild, he had me take it to his friend who rebuilt Rochester carbs for cars, but it's basically the same carb. He did a complete rebuild including striping it down to bare metal with an acid wash and built back up from there. Charged me about 100 bucks and took him about 2 weeks but when he was done he came out to my boat and helped me set the idle needles and got it running perfect.

Soooo, either find a good young apprentice to an old experienced carb mechanic or find that expert yourself. If you know of any hot rod shops that restore classics, that would be a good place to start.

We get a lot of carb work because we work on a lot of classics, and Im old and grew up with them.
Ethonol gas is causeing all kinds of problems esspecially when you have a vented gas tank like boats.

I'm primarily looking to match cfm. I assume the 650 cfm Edelbrock is the one I need for a small block. My mechanic said someone had been inside my existing carb before him with something less than surgical precision. Since there might be damage and it's been a pos to use, I thought I'd roll the dice on the Edelbrock. All the feedback I've gotten on them has been good.
Looks like I'm about to find out.
