22i Hull Design

Has the design of the hull changed since the 22i debuted? If yes, do newer ones need as much add'l ballast as earlier ones to get the wake dialed? Most of the posts I've seen re: using lots of ballast seem to be from owners w/earlier years.

The hull changed mid 2002-2003.

Mike - I have an '04 22I. We put 600lb sacks in the rear compartments and a 550lb between the the front seats. My sons are good wakeboarders (360's, flips etc) so they want the larger wake. You need to determine the skill level of the riders before you decide how much ballast you want. Don't forget the front ballastb because you can not get the wake clean without it. If you want to wake surf then get the strong guys on board to haul the front one into the rear. If you do not have the muscle on board then empty the front one. I would also recomend getting two filler pumps with this setup to save on fill time.
