    1995 Tige 2000 slm

I am looking for a picture of what the piece that holds the direct drive shaft that is inside the boat just before it leaves the hull
It is the piece that is on an angle and the shaft runs through it
I just am trying to figure out if someone has changed mine or if it is stock
Can anyone take a pic of theres or help me out
My boat is a 1995 Tige 2000 SLM
also is it hard to remove the shaft to do the cutlass bearings?
and if not how do I do that?

youre looking for a strut, i would have a dealer do that as mm's of incorrect replacement can read to cavitation or WORSE

my bad i skimmed the post, sorry.

yes you are correct. i would think that any old shaft packing would do (im assuming thats what you mean, pics of yours may help) but you will indeed have to remove the shaft for that. the ones that tige uses now were recently on a forum ill see if i can dig it up.

Here's a picture of the packing on my '94. I believe it's the original one, but don't quote me.

based on whats in my 91 malibu that looks to be original.

ours leaks a bit but never enough to warrant replacement.

They are supposed to leak when the prop shaft is turning. Just exactly how much is the question. I once heard one drop per second. I've also heard one drop every 3 seconds. So those are my guidelines.

that picture is the one I was looking for
You see where the screws go into the piece of plywood just after the shaft seal
Mine leaks a little into the boat
The mechanic said that to fix that you would need to refiberglass everything and put in a new setup with a copper tube or something like that to stop it from leaking into the boat?
any ideas if this mechanic is just trying to make money or should I be having this done?
the boat only leaks a little amount of water like over a full week the bilge will fill up and the bilge will run a couple times
                  thanks for you help guys

I'll take a look at it tomorrow and get a better feel as to what I would do.
