New Tower or too much trouble ???

I have a 2003 22i Tige Rider edition. I am tossing the idea around of putting on a Monster MT2 tower.

My boat is at the lake so I can't really have a good look at it, but can anyone tell me #1) How do I access underneath gunnel to the factory Tige tower, 2) Do I need to have the old tower holes fiberglassed and gel coated even if they are hid by the foot of the new tower.

Any info would be appreciated.

I just recently replaced my tower on my '01 21i with a MT2. On my boat, I was abkle to access the rear mounting bolts under the gunnel. The front mounts were easy to access also. One in the passenger side storage compartment, and in the storage compartment on the drivers side.

Now on the the holes left by the factory mounting locations. I was able to use the front holes, but the rear I was not so lucky. To cover up the holes, I ordered some pull up cleats and mounted to cover up the holes.

The Monster MT2 requires a min. distance of 75" between the front leg and the rear.

I did the same thing as Super B with the rear holes.

Not exactly the same, but when I added a tower, I had to fill in the holes for my telescopic pylon braces. Cost me about $75 a hole by my dealer and you can't tell where they were. I'm sure you could do it yourself (I think talltigeguy posted something on gelcoat repairs).

Or do as SuperB and NICKYPOO suggested.

I have never been a fan of the look of the Monster Towers. If I replace mine I will probably put a Samson tower on it. I just bought a set of wakeboard racks from them and they are high quality and rock solid! (Watch your thumb though, I ended up with 4 stitches in it bc my hex wrench slipped and cut me to the bone!!) I also have VERY expensive taste though!

Why would you want to change towers? I have same tower and granted its not the best looking tower ever but its not bad. I have had zero problems with mine and would not see any real benefit by changing to a MT2. I mean its a good tower but what are you looking to gain?

Depends on what your going for, Samsons are awesome looking towers, but once i saw the price tag...a $3500 upgrade for something that does the exact same thing as a $1500 upgrade...wasn't for me.

Agreed. I think Monster's are pretty fugly but they work amazingly well. My buddy had one on his supra and it was rock solid, super easy to fold and the racks are way better then the POS wakedesigns my boat came with. Function trumps form sometimes.

really? I think Monster Towers actually look pretty good. They are simple, but I think they are a definite upgrade over most of the early stock towers.

Assuming it fits (just posted on this issue in a new thread), I'm loving the new Freeride tower for aesthetics.... as far as I can see, that's the biggest difference with older/newer boats... this model is brand new though, so not sure if anyone's tried it out yet as far as function goes.

If my budget still looks good in the spring, I'm thinking of doing this tower and some new graphics on my '02...

Although I really thought highly of my Samson Razor by time all was said and done it cost about $4k to change the Tige E-Series out. My insurance covered and I have no regrets but when all is said and done if you don not raise and lower tower frequently the Razor is too expensive if the tower stays up.

Raising and lowering the Samson is easy and it looks great but in rough water it will still shimmy and wiggle but when pulling weight behind it that is rock solid.

If I was ordering a boat and the manufacturers tower was over $3k I would have them install a Samson. If I could I like the Alpha Z towers on the newer Tige that are no longer just black and if I had choice that would be my preferred ticket.

That is a sweet boat! I think your tower looks better than the monster tower. How does one tower outperform another? Seems like a waste of cash to me.
