I just purchased a 2001 21i. Yay me. I'm a slalom skier but have friends with poor taste that wake board. My question is I was cleaning everything up and found there is 2 stainless steel brackets attached to the back of the back seat, one on each side. Each has 2 tube's on it, roughly 7/8" diameter and 3 inches long. They are mounted vertically. What are they for? Also is there anywhere I can down load an owners manual for a 2001 21i?

Hi Doug,
I have a 1999 2100i with the same set up. Those brackets are to set up the back seat to face to the rear, so your passengers can watch the action without having to turn around. There should be two additional stainless tubes that attach to those brackets and they hold up the back and bottom seats.

Hi John,
Im here in central California on the coast right next to Pismo Beach California. Currently, we’re in e midst of a heat wave, with temps well over a 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Our normal temps this time of year range in the low 70’s. We also have been locked down with the pandemic. It has not stopped us from hitting our local lakes though, as much as we can. I will post a photo of the brackets with the seat facing to the rear in the morning. (Currently 2200 hrs. As I type)

Ya, that’s them. Looks like you’re missing a piece of your trunk area. Or not. Mine had a panel that would cover the whole thing for when the seat was set up for rear viewing. I eliminated everything back there when I built the ballast compartments though, including the rear facing option.
I’m up in Reno, NV and we are getting that same heat wave. 100+ everyday. The crappy part is that California is still on fire and all that smoke is blowing right into our area. It’s as bad as I’ve seen it. Record temps, record poor air quality. It mostly sucks. You'll get your chance, smart guy.
