Stainless steel brackets behind back seat?

I just purchased a 2001 21i. Yay me. I'm a slalom skier but have friends with poor taste that wake board. My question is I was cleaning everything up and found there is 2 stainless steel brackets attached to the back of the back seat, one on each side. Each has 2 tube's on it, roughly 7/8" diameter and 3 inches long. They are mounted vertically. What are they for? Also is there anywhere I can down load an owners manual for a 2001 21i?

You should be able to turn the lower seat cushion around to face the rear of the boat and have the rear backrest use the metal brackets for support. You can watch the rider that way.

      Hi Doug,

I have a 1999 2100i with the same set up. Those brackets are to set up the back seat to face to the rear, so your passengers can watch the action without having to turn around. There should be two additional stainless tubes that attach to those brackets and they hold up the back and bottom seats.

            Hi John,

Im here in central California on the coast right next to Pismo Beach California. Currently, we’re in e midst of a heat wave, with temps well over a 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Our normal temps this time of year range in the low 70’s. We also have been locked down with the pandemic. It has not stopped us from hitting our local lakes though, as much as we can. I will post a photo of the brackets with the seat facing to the rear in the morning. (Currently 2200 hrs. As I type)

we aren’t even allowed to go out fishing
not allowed to use our boats
we have a kerfew and have to be in your home by 8 pm and can leave at 5.30 am
1 hour a day out of home for exercise.
Moir lockdown has been extended for another 3 weeks at stage 4.
My kids have only had 9 weeks of school at there schools so far this year and the rest has been online home learning. We are extremely eager to get back out on the water
I look forward to seeing your pictures and chatting more

Ya, that’s them. Looks like you’re missing a piece of your trunk area. Or not. Mine had a panel that would cover the whole thing for when the seat was set up for rear viewing. I eliminated everything back there when I built the ballast compartments though, including the rear facing option.

I’m up in Reno, NV and we are getting that same heat wave. 100+ everyday. The crappy part is that California is still on fire and all that smoke is blowing right into our area. It’s as bad as I’ve seen it. Record temps, record poor air quality. It mostly sucks.

Thanks for all the responses, and the pictures. I'm not sure I will ever want to turn the back seat around. I was thinking more of just removing it for additional space. Sorry to hear all the problems people are having with virus and weather. I'm getting out 2-3 per week and loving it.

Those brackets look pretty neat wounder if there was anyone in here that would have a set of original ones lying around that may want to pass them on
I reckon my kids would love to sit that way while watching there brother and sister skiing 24 deg C here today Monday at 2.44pm

There’s not a whole lot to them. They could easily be made by any metal fab shop. Probably for a lot cheaper than shipping an old set from the states.
