    01 21i

Hey, I recently found a really good deal on a 2001 21i - great condition, low hours, excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. I was just wondering how the performance of the boat is? I'm pure wakeboarding, but I'm looking for a boat that will double as a very good slalom boat as well, as family members are strictly slalom skiing. So what kind of wkae will the older 21i hull produce? I'm slightly worried about the spray pockets creating wash with added weight at wakeboard speeds. How justified are my worries in this area? If anyone has pictures of wakes from pre-2002 21i's I would love to see them.

    Thanks a lot!

I don't have pics to show you but I can say that my 2000 21i does great at both applications, the taps really helps tailor the wake when you have variations in fuel, human weight, etc. I'll try to get some pics up for you.

I believe(search to find out for sure) that you can fill the spray pockets in. I think all the spraypockets do is allow bubbles so the wake is softer for skiing. However, since you don't want this for wakeboarding it presents a slight problem. But it's not that big of a deal. Someone will chime in I'm sure to either back me up, or prove me wrong.

well riding behind an older tige with spray pockets at The Wakeboard Camp years ago is what got me to buy one. I have an 03 and i weight mine so that i get a lip on my wake. i like the lip, gives a good visual reference point as to where the wake ends. in my op. it's gonna be good regardless of spray pockets.

I've got a 2001 21i that we bought for the same reasons- wakeboarding and skiing. On the 8th I'll pick up a new 22V (the 21i is for sale). My opinion is that the 21i wake may not be as big but it can still get you up. I think it is more peaky or less rampy. It is also more weight location sensative. If I have passengers move around the boat, I can get the wake cleaned up, spray pockets or not. I don't have the perfect picture that shows the wake (we try to shoot the boarder) but this gives you an idea.
