    Perfect pass not so perfect......

From previous posts, my rehab is complete, been on the water 4 weeks straight. . Thanks again for all the help. I will have to post some pics, catching some sweet pops.

Sunday my PP started getting all tricky ('02 22i). The speed registers 0 at higher speeds, and catches speed when trolling. (almost opposite speed?? The thumbwheel on the servo spins freely, no apparent loose wires. Seems to be a setting or calibration issue, or it is just stupid! thoughts?

GIGO! garbage in, garbage out. If the PP doesnt know the speed (when in speed mode, as I'm assuming is was in based on your post) then it doesnt know what to do.

Well, then me and mr. PP have a lot in common, because I dont know what to do either, haha! It asks the questions...in neutral, push up for yes and it turns on, then you punch it and when it reaches speed it beeps and takes over, only problem, it never registers speed and thus never takes over??? It was in mph mode. When idling it reads like 23 mph....

        So what are you saying?

It doesnt read a faster speeds, like what? And then reads slow speads, how slow? Does it ever read correctly?

Does it control speed via RPMs?

Almost sounds like the wires to the module for the paddlewheel are reveresed. Im not sure if its even possible but from the information you have given me its the only conclusion I can come up with.

Next time out, try the RPM mode, if it work right, then it points to a speedo pickup problem, if it still act up, then it's looking like a PP problem.

I tried both modes when it started acting up, neither control, no changes were made, it failed mid day after working. When i am going fast...greater than lets say 15 mph, it registers 0.0 mph, if i slow down....idle, it reads 23-25 mph. its almost opposite of what is happening. Throttle cable is in tact, all wires seem to be seated and connected. The weird thing is that it does read, just like the opposite of what is acutally happening?????

Going to hijack for a second. My PP did something weird last week too. When running at about 30 mph, it read 13mph. Then, when would slow down for no wake zones, would read at what appeared to be accurate (3.5 mph)

Check your paddle wheel and make sure its free of debris and spins freely. Also check to make sure all the blades on the wheel are still there.

Jump on Illini....maybe kill 2 birds with one stone??

Check and Check...actually swam under the boat while on the water because this was my first suspicion. checked again and all in tact and spins like a crack head beggin for a 5 spot!

Is there something in the settings that could have gotten jacked? I was not driving the boat at the time, but it seemed to happen mid pull after engaging...

                    thanks for the help

                      Superman,

If you havent done so already, I would check all the wire for the system but in particular the ones regarding to the paddlewheel ofcourse. These small connectors can easily loose connection. Check the paddwheel itself from inside the boat as well. The wire sequence for the paddle wheel plug should be arranged this way. From top to bottom....White, Bare, Brown, Green, Red.

If all seems well you can try to recalibrate the speedo. While im not sure if this will work its definately worth a shot. While moving check the speed with a GPS and press the menu button until speedo adjust comes on the screen, then press the up and down keys accordingly to adjust the speed reading.

I changed the fuse, reseated all the wires and it worked fine today, thanks for the help. Here is the kicker.....I was tubing today and caught some air, spun and my foot caught the water tearing up my knee!. Feels like an ACL tear from what everybody is saying, this sucks

One issue.....My stereo remote control only wors with the key off, once the boat is running it stops working? Ground issue? very persnickety!

What brand H/U and remote do you have? Most remotes need absolutely nothing from the boats electrical system to function as they get their power and ground from the H/U through the data cable. The only external + & - is for the remotes back-light, if it has one. I would say you got a poor connection on either the H/U's yellow wire or blk ground wire causing a low voltage supply or poor ground.
