    2002 22i type r

I am new here if anyone can please help me...
In my search for a sanger v210 I came across a very nice 2002 Tige 22i Type R with 260 hours and the price is right. I used to own a sanger v210 and it threw a very nice wake with about 800 pounds. I have heard mixed feedback on the 22i type r wake for that particular year as it has spray pockets that cause problems?? I also heard that weight makes it worse. What is the skinny on the wake as the seating looks very nice. The primary use will be for wakeboarding also.

    Thank you for your help.

i have a 23v with spray pockets. And I don't see the wake starting to roll over until I have at least 2500-3000 lbs of weight in the boat.

That is awesome. I've not weighted our boat at all, but now I am very tempted. It's just that the earlier boats ride so low to the water anyway. No problems with that?

Ours would be different, but borrow some sacs or load up with some people ballast and experiment with it.

also, how does it compare with the malibu vlx that you have now? i ride with a guy who owns a wakesetter vlx and my old sanger would put up every bit as large of a wake but more shaped like a san.

I see you can put sacs in the back storage lockers but is there anyplace to conceal the bow sac? I am assuming there is no floor locker???

                    Thank you

                      221 Weighting

I'm betting that the young fella in thtrog's pic has exceptional edging technique into the wake - every bit as and more important than wake size.

For wakeboarding, we run our 22i w/flyhigh 260#'s in each rear locker plus 50# static in each for a total of 610#'s rear in the back. We put 50# static under port and star front bow seats for a total of 100# up front. Wake is plenty for heel and toe inverts up through scarecrow (w/proper edging) and spinning 5's -- maybe more, but this is the riding level of our group.

Also, we've gotten into surfing this year, and w/the back panel removed from the rear lockers, flyhigh's 750# (50x20x20) fits in perfectly. I also put flyhigh's triangle bow sack in the compartment behid the observer seat - it's rated for 1,000#, but I'm estimating that I can get approx 650# in there before the area/compartment is completely filled. She throws a pretty sweet surf wave sacked that way.

                      Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post T*. Any issues with the boat rider even lower in the water with that much weight? Got any pictures of the boat and wake loaded vs. unloaded?

No issues w/boat handling with the add'l weight (it's not much weight compared to what I've read some others add to their boats). The boat doesn't seem to need much in the bow, so i don't have problems w/taking water over the bow (unless I get lazy or am asleep at the wheel ;-).

I don't have any unwieghted pics, but I'll see if I can come up w/some weighted pics.

i was told that you should try to keep the weight more even. you find it better heavily weighting the back versus the front? That is what I originally figured due to the motor in the middle versus in the back.

                            Thank you

Right - I think that the 60 rear / 40 front ratio was arrived at with v-drives in mind, with the static motor weight already in the rear.

I've not experimented w/my weight for wakeboarding very much - it just turns out that where I stuck the wwight produces a clean wake, fat enough to do inverts and spins, plus still have room in the storage compartments and not sink the bow. As it turns out, our ratio of add'l weight is 85 rear / 15 front.
