The goofy take a bit more, but still very little compared to our 24Ve and many other boats. Once you get used to it, you can't go back. I know Dan Savagaugh had a 2013 23 LSV, it was the one used at our polar bear event. It made a great wake, but he just sold it for a new Z3. Several reasons, I think, but 2 were the way Z3 rides at surf and so high out of the water, and then the fuel. He got the Z3 with the 340, which is even more efficient, but when we were out with him we did 6 hours on the meter, solid surfing the entire time and then filled up the next day, only took 22 gallons. That is very difficult to beat, and that is with our Z3 with the 409 and 1200+ hours.
Here is a picture of Dan's Z3, Dan is the guy with the PFD on, getting ready to surf.

This is were our rub rail is when we put out a good wave. Since the wife had her second ACL surgery this year we are surfing more and more. Our LSV will put out a good wave, it just takes a lot of weight and good amount of list. On an empty lake no problem, but with all the yahoos we gotta deal with in Phoenix it takes some forethought and good driving. I like the concept of all the new surf systems, I just think they have more potential. The word is the new Malibu 23LSV with Surfgate needs at least 450hp and will burn up to 10gph! No thanks.

Nice looking wake Z3James!
@turbonine, as you can see on the Z3s, the rub rail is no where near the water. We have had 5000 lbs of water, plus a full boat load of people in the Z3, and this is how it rode:

And it still only took about 6gph, our normal is around 4-5.
I haven't been on the new 23LSV, but we were on a brand new A22, to make a great wake, it has about 5000 lbs in it and had the 450HP motor. It took a good 30+ seconds to make the wake the motor was working so hard. They had to be burning lots of gas. The wake was very nice, though. Gas at our marina is $5.50/gal, there is no way for me. And as good as the A22 wake was, I think our Z3 was better. Your not to far, you are welcome to come ride with us for a day. With the crossover pump, we switch in just a few minutes, and we are working on something to make it much better.http://wake9.com/

Yes, that is basically correct. Its pretty easy. Our bags have an extra port on the back of the bag and you just add a reversible pump (we prefer the johnson) on the firewall forward of the engine and plumb from that rear port on one bag to the other. We put the switch under the dash, that's it. So when you switch, you do as before, empty on one side and fill the other, but also flick that to make the time much less.http://wake9.com/

I gotta say in all fairness, comparing the rubrail to the water on a Z3 to an LSV is not not where near apples to apples
On both those boats, the water line looks to be in about the same spot, relative to the top of the deck.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

In the interest of not hijacking the thread further, I made a new thread: ;-)

not sure. it's my current fantasy
I sure like the Blue and White Z3..and the Rags red/white is pretty tasty. Def' like the Black/White one. I like schemes simple. Espcially interiors. Too many day glow colors on the seats and console freak me out.
I can't comment on the one with Seahawks colors since I'm a hardcore niner fan. I will say it's a very sweet boat BUT every time I see that blue and green on anything it makes me ill. Can't help it...Last edited by MooseX; 05-28-2014, 05:09 PM.my midlife crisis started at puberty and I plan on enjoying it all the way to the end..
