    New Tige Owner

Well I am almost a new Tige owner. I am new to the boating world and just started shopping for boats and I found this deal I just couldn't pass up, I think. I put a down payment on it after looking at it and will be finishing th transaction on Thursday after the test drive. It's a 2003 Tige 21i Limited selling for $19500. I am looking for some input from you guys about this boat and if it's a good deal. Also what key points I should look for during the test drive. Here is a link to it.

    Congrats!! (almost )
Your price seems about inthe ball park. I wouldn't rem it a "steal," but I don't think it's too much either.

On your drive just make sure EVERYTHING works as advertised. Check out the seams in the seats, they are prone to splitting if they are the original material. If they're splitting you may wanna ask for a price break to get it fixed...
It looks to be in good shape!!
    Enjoy!!!!! Welcome to the site.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Thats a good price. Check all guages to make sure they work, check taps, perfect pass, check all lights ie anchor and running put the running light in to make sure it works. check for carpet coming up. check for mold under the seats (tells you how well they kept clean). check seams of seats. check tower to make sure it is tight and not worked loose. are they adding any jackets, bumpers, anchors or ropes. check prop for dings. since your new to direct drives backing up will pull to rt and you have no real control. you will learn to master this over time and practice. welcome to the club. you have some good other owners down there like dogbert.

Check the dorsey trailer for rust spots around the fender to frame welds and up front where the tongue is welded to the three box tubes that start the main frame rails. I loved how my dorsey trailered and loaded but these seem to be some weeknesses they have, not just on trailers in Florida either. Good luck!

also check the blinker fluid and make sure that the flux capacitor is fully in tact.

Good luck & enjoy the ride!

NADA values the boat between $16,440 and $18,735, so your definitely in the ball park for price. Welcome to the sight.

The dealer that services this boat (the Ski Dock) is first rate. Looks like it's in really good shape. 250 hrs is not a lot.

Along with what the other guys suggested, I'd ask the seller when they last changed the impeller. You can always cross reference this with the Ski Dock.

Hope to see you on the water this summer!

I don't want to add confusion to the guy who has his heart set on a certain boat, but buying a boat at NADA value in this economy is not going to cut it for me, unless it is something special.

The bank is probably going to loan money based on that value, so you are starting a little bit in the hole already.

I would point out the NADA value and work it a little, unless that NADA value did not include any of the options.
                  Be excellent to one another.

NADA has actually caught up a little bit with the actual boat market. In part because the economy spiral has leveled off some, and boat dumping had slowed up and market prices are leveling off. Not saying prices have recovered, just not dropping weekly like they were last Fall and into Winter. Just reminder to anyone these are only guides, market still decides selling price.

From my understanding NADA does not include the trailer.

Some boats it does, some it doesnt. Really depends on if the boat manf packages the boat and trailer like Moomba V's Tige that does not. There will be an * letting you now it does not include trailer. There is a trailer section in the paper version.

I checked the NADA site and the average price it comes up with is $19745 once I add the options I am getting with the boat like a bimini top, tower, perfect pass, etc. However this is for the 21i R/SK they do not list a 21i Limited and I am not sure which one is more expensive. As for the trailer, NADA does not mention anything about a trailer so I am not sure if it is included in the quote. I do know that average price refers to minor cosmetic or mechanical work and this boat is in damn near perfect shape. I could not find a single tear in the upholstry and carpet and only one superficial scratch on the underneath of the boat.

dogbert, how did you know the ski dock was the dealer that serviced this boat? Do you have some more insight for me?
