Some good wheel bearing advice!!!!!

Wanted to give everyone a heads up on something that could save a ruined weekend at the lake. Every Spring, add checking wheel bearings to your list of to do's. Especially on older trailers. Takes a minute to jack up each side and give the wheel a wiggle and make sure its tight then add a little grease (unless its a newer sealed unit)I just checked mine and one side was fine and one side had a very slight wiggle which would have lead to a disaster on the road. Put a very slight bit on the bearing nut and problem solved. Hope everyone is having a great Spring so far!!! Here in Oklahoma I think I might sell my Tige and build an Ark... it has rained for almost a solid month!!!!!!!

Also make sure you wait a few minutes before backing the trailer into the water after traveling on the highway! My friend towed straight to the lake with the covers off and backed it right in and the bearings locked up from the shock of being cooled too quickly (or something).

I have heard of that happening...one tip I have heard is to hit all the bearings with the grease gun before backing it in.

Or stop and load everything in the boat. I never pull with the cover off. My friend had to buy a new windshield and it took two months to get it from Malibu when a rock hit it from a Semi passing the opposite direction. $970.00 and 2 months later he had a new windshield. So the cover does two things protecs your windshield and gives your bearings time to cool while you pull the cover off.
