Sorry man....I'm a 33yr old professional that giggles everytime I read Tanners sig.....
Yeah, I don't know man. If Tanner was a hot chick, it would be hot. I'm pretty sure Tanner is not a hot chick which just makes it sound kind of gay. Sorry Tanner.
Now, if that horse was named WhiskeyDick, then, then I would laugh every time. "And down the stretch, it's WhiskeyDick!"
The driver's job is to protect the person who is most exposed to danger, e.g. the skiier/boarder in the water. Any passengers in the boat need to be educated before getting on board that a downed rider can mean abrupt changes in direction/speed. The ultimate responsibility for the safety of all on board lies with the "captain".
In the contest between smooth water and safety, the person in the water wins every time. That having been said, if traffic is light and it is safe to do so, the "drop to idle and cruise to the rider" method is certainly the most courteous to fellow users of the lake, be they "hard core" or "weekend warriors".
Maybe we are focusing on what is a systemic result of reckless driving. That would be the d-bag that is for some reason driving in the same line as anyone (Skier / Tuber / Boarder) that may have fallen. That has to be my number one pet peeve.
So I think the key is be cognoscente of other boaters that are pulling people and don’t drive directly behind them.
Other than that I don’t really see a reason to go power turning in the middle of a cove. If the riding area is really that busy that any time a rider/skier falls that you have to p-turn to get them it might not be that great of a time/area to pull someone.
If my kid’s life were reliant on my p-turn to stop them from getting run over each time they fell I wouldn’t be pulling them in that area but that’s just me.
I vote no power turns / no water tailgating and no illogical driving that makes no sense.
Another boat water tailgating me when I am pulling a rider or riding is guaranteed to set me off. I have had plenty of dillholes follow behind me too close when there is the whole lake to run their boat on.

A few M-80's tossed in the tailgaters direction will cure that bad behavior!!!!
