    Alternate Battery Dead

Towards the end of last season, I noticed that when I shut the motor off, I could only listen to the radio, with amps, for about 10 to 15 min. I went out for the first time this season last weekend and the same thing occurred. I did notice that I had the tower light on and courtesy light on afterwards but I had the same problem. Is the battery bad? It’s less than a year old on a 08 Z1?

    Thanks for the help!

I had the same problem with my boat this past year, wondering if I hooked up the batteries wrong somehow when I de-winterized it. The perko switch only has 1 setting if I remember correctly and I have the Tige EIDB option or whatever it's called. I could only get the alternate battery to take about 90% charge this year but the primary took a full charge.

did you try an charge it during off season before you put it back into service? thats where i would start charge and load test.also make sure nothing is staying on that could be killing the battery while boat sits.

If it was put away for winter with out a full charge, the battery is toast. As KKO said, test and charge just to be sure. it also wouldn't hurt to make sure it's receiving a charge from the alt through the Isolator.

Tige uses a diode type Isolator that allows for charging of both batteries when engine is running and isolation when off. The switch just acts a master cut-off for the primary/starting battery.

That's what I'm wondering if mine is hooked up properly or something.

Check to make sure the grounds for the 2 batteries are tied together, this would prevent it from charging.
