My box anchor arrived today and that thing is big and heavy. So Im looking for some input on size of rope, and rope length that you guys are useing. It's the large box anchor and I have a RZ2. I would think that 50' should be more then enough, or should I go longer? I mostly will anchor just off shore. Thanks for the input.

The box anchor advertises as little as a 1:2 depth:rope length ratio compared to about 1:7 for a more traditional anchor. I went with a 100' for my box anchor even though I expect to be in 20' or less most of the time. The rest will just sit in the bag in case I need it. That said, if you think you might be in deep water resevoir lakes, perhaps you might err on the 150' side (allowing a comfortable 50-60' anchor depth).

I use the bungee Anchor Buddy http://tuggyproducts.com/. It allows you to anchor well off shore and pull the boat a little closer for getting back on. Its awesome, one of the best accesories I have on my boat. I use it with the box anchor.Bad decisions make good stories.

Go with the 50ft and on the end put a loop the keep an extra 50ft of rope in the boat for when you need a longer line so you don't have to deal with the 100ft all the time.Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein
