    please help

I have an alarm sounding and i cant figure out whats going on.
i can trottle up till about 30 before it goes off. i can shut the boat off and the alarm will reset and not go off till i hit around 30 but it will do it sometimes while pulling a rider.

    oil level is good
    transmission level is good
    temp reads alittle under 175
    oil pressure about 70

Make sure the oil level is not too high, it can cause it to foam up and give a false reading. Not sure what the threshold is for the water temp alarm, but 175 is a little on the high side but not too high. May have low flow due to a restriction.....may want to check the thru-hull pickup and back flush the trans cooler. Did you replace the impeller during the off season.

If you have a Mercury engine, it could be the first sign of your fuel pressure regulator going.

You check a fuel pressure regulator very easily, just pull the hose off the top and if fuel drips out then it needs to be replaced, if no gas drips out thats not the problem.

Pull the inlet hose of the cooler, pull the supply hose off the impeller housing and run a garden hose down the hose and see what comes out of the cooler. When's the last time it got and impeller? Has it had one since you got it?

That impeller should be changed annually wether it needs it or not. They tend to dry out and rot over the off season.

I had a buddy w/ a MC who had a similiar problem. He backflushed and got some junk out, but still had the alarm go off. He had to take the hoses off of his inline cooling water filter and dig more junk out of it. Problem solved.

Mike, would sticking a coat hanger up in there get the same effect?

I'd be worried about puncturing the cooler.

                        Ok new update.

I have done the reverse flush nothing came out. The fluid levels are good. So i guess it is the fuel pressure regulator. I do notice a gas smell when i let off the trottle to pick up my rider. Does anyone know where i can order the regulator from.

If the regulator was leaking, you would have a rich running condition at idle that would cause the engine to run rough. This would be very noticeable and would all but go away as soon as you lay into the throttle.
