Do not look if you have a week stomach!!

So I bought my boat in March, and have not had it in the water yet. I planned on taking it out this weekend, but everything went wrong. I went to work for overtime and ended up cutting four tendons in my fingers. I had to have 4 and 1/2 hours of surgery and still will not know for six to eight weeks how much movement I will regain. This really sucks. For those of you that like gross here is a pic for you after my surgery. No wakeboarding this year.

          That is awesome.
I counted 37 stiches and was able to eat white cheddar popcorn through the entire viewing.
Hope you heal fast and can at least surf.

I started wtith 13 stitches, the rest are from the surgeon looking for the tendons. I have never tried surfing.

I am a mechanic in a plastic factory. I was replacing blades in a plastic grinder. The grinder was unplugged, I was wearing cut resistant gloves, and all the safeties were in place. The grinder has 3 blades that spin and two stationary blades that must be set to the proper gap. As I was setting the blades, the shaft tightened up. I pulled up on the shaft and it instantly broke loose. Momentum carried the blade up into my hand. This probably makes no sense if you have never seen one of these grinders. For what it is worth the blades were so sharp I didn't know I had been cut and I kept working until I saw blood.

Wow, At least you still have fingers. One summer with no wakeboarding or no fingers. I would take the summer off and become a really good surfer.

                  I hope you heal fast!

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I'm picturing something like a reel mower.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Those cuts that you don't "feel" are the WORST.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a very similar surgery done on my left ring finger. Technically I evulsed the flexor digitorum profundus, aka jersey finger.

I have cool zipper scar like than on that finger, and also had to deal with a wire drilled through my nail, through the bone, attached to the tendon, then it was looped back up through the nail, and tied off with a little button. Here's some tips.. Once you get outta stiches, soak that hand in lotion. It will help with callus formation along the suture lines. Which is a pita! Also see about doing ultrasound treatments during your physical therapy. The tendons have to go through tunnels at all your joints and they have a tendency to fuse. Ultrasound helps that.

Good luck! I show no I'll effects except the calluses

This is quite literally the case, you have a cool talking point forever! My Z line extends further into my palm because my tendon had slipped almost to the heal of my hand, and it does freak some people out a bit cause it looks a bit gnarly. Oh, buy a wakeboard handle with a good cushy foam wrap, the hard one kill my hand.
