    Stop Spam

The only way I have found to stop spam like that, is to turn user sign up to moderated, you have to allow after first sign up, but this stuff is getting nasty. I imagine you already have email validation on.

Email validation is on. Every so often spam bots somehow find a way to get around the forums CAPTCHA. The only thing that helps is keeping up with the forum software updates.

            The SPAM threads are removed.

I really like the idea of not being able to start a thread until you have X number of posts in existing threads. It makes new members use the search function for an ongoing thread related to a question the might have. What may make this work better for genuine new members is to have a sticky "Welcome, post you boat and tells us about your self" thread. This gives them a place to start posting. Then if they have questions, they can be directed to an ongoing thread or helped there or by PM.
