Congrats on the purchase but sorry to hear about the cracked block. It is great that you have the capability to fix the problem. Many owners don't.
I would spend the extra $100 to get over the hp mark. In the long run having the increased power should save on fuel expense and make the boat perform out of the hole shot in less time. 265 hp might be good when boat has only a couple of people but when you are carrying a full tank of fuel and lots of friends you will feel underpowered. You can tell the difference between even the current 315hp-320hp motors vs the 340hp Marines Power which is the norm and not exception with current model years prior to 2009 when Tige went to PCM. When we bought ours we tested 320hp and 340hp motors and could feel the difference in hole shots as well as acceleration. We tested with 5 adults on board with an avg weight of 190 per passenger. Both boats where 20V's one a 2006 demo boat and my current 2007 20V. Both boats were propped with ACME 537's
I hope you get her back together soon so you can enjoy the short season in your area.

We just finished bolting in and test running the new 300HP beast! It took about 12-13 hours. Oil pan was put on and off about three times (don't ask) and had the timing backwards. Other than that it was pretty straight forward. Pics to come.
It sounds awesome, just need to get her to the lake and break it in!
Thanks a ton Joel (Jleger98)!The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

The thing does sound really mean too.Reality is only an illusion that occurs due to a lack of alcohol.
