starting to get musty smell any suggestions on cleaning

Replace.

A rug sized washing machine.
Warm cycle, no laundry soap ever,, use Fantastic cleaner instead,, about 3/4 cup.
Hang dry.
If you repeat, a small amt of bleach alone without fantastic will make a big difference.

I have thrown them in our front loading washer before, with Tide. It seemed to work very well.
