NEW (relitave) TIGE and member

Hello, all! I have grown up on boats and I have been looking for the past year to find the perfect first boat for myself. My price range was low (around $6000), and I wanted an inboard. I really wanted an open bow, but an open bow (for the most part) put me out of my price range. Well, to make a long story short, I ended up buying a 1996 Tige (PRE2000WT) for $7000! There is nothing wrong with the outer hull except for two spider cracks about the size of a quarter. The interior is in great condition as well. During my research, I found this website and it is absolutely awesome. I had a few questions for everybody...

1. Did I get a good deal?
2. I want to wakeboard 65% and ski 35%. Can this hull put out a good wakeboard wake, and if so, how (ballast, TAPS, etc)?
3. This boat sits really low in the water. How worried should I be about a big storm (Lake Powell type storm)?

2: I'll defer to the experts on weighting, but you will get a good wake outta her!
3: she's got a lower freeboard than the newer boats, but some careful driving will make things just fine!

congrats congrats! she'll do really nice for a ski wake and with a lil bit of weight here and there she'll put out a decent wake for boarding. Ask around here for wakeboard tower thoughts/opinions, there are many.

Welcome! You will need a tower and new bimini for your 65% wake boarding. The ski wake on that machine should be incredible. To keep the nose out of the water you need to let off the throttle until the wake catches back up to you, THEN turn back to your rider. No power turns! This is of course if another boater is not closing in on your downed rider. There are quite a few threads on this topic.

Looks like a good deal to me. How many hours?

I agree... power turns are terrible! There are 600 hours on the motor, but it runs strong. Plus, I have never worked on an engine that is as accessible as this one, so if anything does go wrong, it should not be a big deal. Thanks for the advice.

Sweet looking boat! With the closed bow you should emerge from any speared waves pretty good. I have the '99 2100i (open bow) and learned how much of challenge big lakes can be on Lake Lewisville in TX last year. The low ride and curved bow makes it different than your average inboard/outboard. Good luck w/the new ride!

The only time I have a problem with it riding low is when you shut her down. It won't take long to figure it out. The wake behind it is good enough to learn from for wakeboarding. I took my boat out on Lake Texoma when I just bought it and it did fine going across that big lake. I will admit it will make you nervous at first.
