    New GM Boat Motor

I recently updated my car to the new Cadillac CTS-V with the monster 556hp motor inside. This car is amazingly fast and powerful. I had an opportunity last week to go on a dyno here in Dallas to see what the baseline HP to the rear wheels is on this car. We ran 4 runs and avaeraged 511 hp to the rear wheels.

I run the car at several local tracks, and the handling and performance is amazing for a big car that I can drive home from the track, and use to shuttle clients for work the next day. Cadillac likes to hear about this type of thing, and there happened to be a Cadillac rep out watrching the Dyno pulls last week. He sent me this new link yesterday when he heard I Wakeboard on the weekends I'm not at the race track.

This is the same engine in my car now being marinized and built for performance marine applications including Wakeboard boats. He suggested it would be a great motor for pulling riders in a boat loaded down with ballast. Do we need a supercharged 600 hp motor? Who wants to be first to upgrade?

Congrats on the car, I'm jealous!

My powerball tickets failed me again, so I won't be installing this fantastic new engine myself. I'm curious if it would even fit with all that extra hardware...

Hell, I'll give it a shot, not quite an 8.1!

I always wondered who would spend 80k$ on a car and the BEAT THE PISS OUT OF IT at the track. LOL. I'm just jealous. Sweet car.

I think the motor would be a bit of an overkill except for the fact that I think it would probably be far more fuel efficient than the current motors used. A supercharger is normally not used for toque heavy applications is it? I could be wrong, that's just what I always thought.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

In tow boats it's all about torque. HP, while important, takes a back seat to torque.

When I was up in tenn. at the indmar plant they had that motor there doing some testing. Its a big beast.I think the 8.1L is going bye bye and this will be the high HP motor option from them.

That things looks sweet. I have a Friend who put a 600HP motor in a TIGE 21I. That thing rocks major time. I have never been on the boat but only heard story's about it. They had a hard time getting a prop to handle the HP and torque. The other thing they had to do way change some of the electronics to give it more fuel for the HP increase. If I had the extra cash laying around I would change to that motor just for the fun of it to see how it would work out. I like the fact that it is all aluminum so you don't have to deal with rust factors.

So, do they just bypass the gas and stuff $$ into the gas tank? LOL

The TVS blowers they use produce MASSIVE amounts of TQ almost immediately. The torque curve on my Cobra (with a Twin Screw blower)is flat as can be from pretty much 2k on. Check out a recent dyno sheet...

I agree. It looks like GM is officially killing the Big Block.
