    New truck

Well i sold my duramax and drove a 1500 that i have on the lot for a week and decided that i needed another bigger truck so picked this up at the auction last thursday, cant wait to pull the boat with it, but hopefully i wont have it for another two weeks, it is a 2007 chevrolet 2500 LT2 with the 6.0 gas V8, i have never been a big fan of that motor but in the new body style they upped the power, i love it.

nice, did you have those rockstars on the dmax?

I've said I would NEVER go back to a gasser, but I've driven some nice ones here lately and its got me to thinking.

        Good Puller

That 6.0 engine is a sweet machine for pulling - will definitely pull your boat fine but only get you about 12 m.p.g. which surely sucks! There's just nothing quite like the power of a diesel when you need it though.

Yes good catch those are the same rims that were on my duramax, and i am shocked running about 75-78 i was able to get 14.5 mpgs and then slowed down on the two lane to 65 i pulled almost 18 and then slowed to 60 and picked up to 18.5, but now with the big wheels and tires it really sucks, but i cannot believe the power, i was always the guy that said i would never go back to a gas, if i put on a lot of miles it would be a different story so fuel economy is not a big deal and i have ten cars on the lot that pull 30+ so i am not worried and a couple 1500s that i have gotten 19-20, they dont pull car trailers very well though.

It was a sad day when i sold the duramax, but with the economy the way it is i figured there was no reason for me to own an expensive truck when i can always drive something off the lot. Kind of odd but ask anyone in the car buisness and they will tell you that trying to get a deal on a newer truck at the auction is next to impossible, i have seen six thousand dollar swings in higher priced trucks in the last six months, so i figured this new truck will make someone a heck of a truck for just $21,995, plus there is not many of them around on used lots, heres a picture for all that never saw my dmax.

Does anyone have any opinions on Chevy's 1500HD with the 6.0?? I am looking at getting that or a diesel to pull my 21i with. I am torn between the two at this point and with less then a 10 cents difference between the two it is making out to be a hard decision then to it was to buy the boat. Well any help would be great
I have pulled the boat with my dad's 1500 Ram with the 5.9 hemi and it did a good job but got 13 mpg and I am wanting to get something much better then that.
I'm going old school- I'm bring back the SKURFER!!!!!!

I drive a dodge 2500 with the 5.9 cummins 2wd. Alot of people have tried calling my bluff and they've ended up eating their words, but my truck will get anywhere from 23-27 mpg when empty and that is had calculated. I pull a trailer frequently for my business and never get less than 16 mpg with roughly a 10K pound load. Last year on my way back from skiing, I made it all the way from Breckenridge, Co to Dallas, Tx on 1 tank of fuel, but as you all know it is a 100% downhill drive. it was just over 800 miles.

And as a side note, I wouldn't have a dodge if it weren't for the cummins power plant. They are the cheapest feeling trucks I've ever known.

How do you like those Toyo's that I think I see on there?

I have a 99 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 If you are looking for gas mileage out of it or that 1500HD with the 6.0 forget it. I get 15 unloaded and 10-12 pulling the boat.

THe hd w/6.0 will pull well. It also has some get-up and go when not loaded down. It will yank your 21i around like its not there.

I have only had one 1500hd on the lot and i brought it straight to the auction, the 4X4s sit like they are 2wds and the stock tires are tiny, you can always put on bigger tires but i dont like the way they fill the wheel wells, so then i would have to spend the money on a leveling kit, then you factor in the mileage, if you dont drive that much then they are fine, but if you are only going to use it to pull the boat and still have to drive it 500 miles a week it will break you, just my opinion, i love the new 6.0 but still would not have it if i had to drive a lot, i live 5 miles from work. The tires i have on the 20s are mickey thompson **** cepek fun country twos, they look great but they are loud and suck in the snow because they are so wide but they wear like iron, on my duramax it was always chipped high and i put about 12000 miles on these tires and they look brand new.
