I've been early to vote, but never 1st...I guess it isn't that special

I love when the wife wants to drive. One time I didn't drive my boat once in the water in an entire day. My wife then several friends drove all day long, it was great! I shouted out when they were getting out of the channel, but luckily for us it is all sand so if we had hit, no biggie. I'd rather have other drivers on board than lots of people that don't know how to drive the boat if something ever were to happen. My wife can trailer the boat fully and has driven minimally. I think she would be ok if she had to drive it home fully. Anybody else's significant other do full boat and trailer driving duties? Now if I could just get her to drive the motorcycle...

My wife almost never drives.........she just doesn't care about it. I'd love for her to drive the boat more.....but we usually have other peeps out with us and someone is always eager to take the driving duties when I'm out in the water.

I am lucky. My wife enjoys driving the boat but I still need to teach her to cruise at 2500 rpm or so an to read all the gauger's especially depth especially on the mud bottom Southern Wisconsin Lakes.

She for the most part can tow the boat. Last summer on the way down to the Missouri/ Arkansas Ozarks I got sick as hell and could not see. Cluster attack and dehydration were kicking my collective but. We stopped in Rolla , Mo and I tried to sleep it off and we got on our way at 9am. I last 1 hour driving and wife had to take over until we got to hill country.

The only two things she cannot do is get the boat back on trailer and how to dock. I have been Trying for over 20 years to teach her how to dock and she is just a speed freak heading into dock or stalls at some of the resorts.

She can tow riders and with speedset I hope to get a reasonable ride where she does not have to adjust speed. She cannot tow a skier or tuber on a crowded lake but for the most part I can depend on her when I am in trouble.

My wife can pull riders and put the boat on the trailer. She has tried backing the trailer in, but just not for her so I won't push that. Just need to get her out on a weekday and try a bunch of times to get her comfortable.

Ive watched some great fights with husbands and wifes over backing up the trailer and loading the boat. Its pretty entertaining to grab a couple of beers and watch the free show. (I may have been their a couple of times myself.)

My GF is the only one who has pulled me in my boat. She grew up on sail boats so she knows the laws of the water very well. Both my brothers (live down in LA) are excellent drivers as well, but they haven't ventured up north yet to go skiing with me.

I've been teaching the GF to back the truck & trailer down the boat ramp as well. She is doing very good ...keep telling her slow and steady wins the race. Having a clutch makes it interesting for her pulling it out. But I modified my 4wd transfer case to allow 2wd Lo...this makes pulling the boat out slowly much much more clutch friendly & helps the boat center properly on the trailer.

Now I just need to learn to drive the boat straight into the trailer vs playing pin ball with the trailer side poles . I go as slow a possible, but I still need more practice.

I gave up on my wife and went straight for my kids. Now if one of them would just get their license to drive a vehicle, I could be a passenger 100% of the time. I'm gonna hold off on the stripper pole for now

I was lucky enough to marry a Cypress Gardens skier so my wife drives a boat better than most. She also learned to drop the tailer in w/out any problems. In fact she would rather drop the trailer in than drive the boat onto it.

Fortunate

I have to brag on this one. My wife is a superstar in most aspects of boating. Sometimes when the day is done and the ramps are full she can back down and around, stop and yell at an idiot or two along the way, and still put the trailer in the smallest hole they could leave. On the water she is just slightly less than a superstar, but only because she ran over my tow rope. I really can't fault her for not hearing the voices. You know the one that says get off the lake, idiot, it's getting too windy. But, I guess I will still keep her.

My wife can most certainly trailer the boat. She is better at it than I am as my son puts it. "Dad you need lessons from Mom on how to put the boat on the trailer". Now pulling it behind the truck is another thing. When we first bought the boat and we were on about our 8th trip or so she decided she wanted me to launch the boat and she would pull the truck and trailer out and park it. In the process of pulling into a tight spot see bumped someone else's trailer with our trailer. No damage or anything but as a result she will not tow the boat or trailer now. It has been three years and I can not get her to even try. I am sure if I was unable to for some reason and we needed to get home she would tow it though.
