Yeah, I guess I left something out. When there were 60 pre-sets you could not customize the names. With the new software you can.

What is the benefit of reducing the number of presets???
      Maybe it didn't work?

We just sold one of the Stargazers to a customer and it is a very nice system. The new speed set is better than the old one and the problem with pre-programmed speeds with the old speed set system was with the Marine power computer on the engine. (At least thats what I was told) I was also told the 09 system is prewired to use a PP Stargazer if you choose. (but speed set is included in the price of the boat) According to the man from PCM.
hmmm...interesting! That is not how I understood a GPS to work. I wasn't aware that it mattered what surface you are on because it is communication/updating almost constantly (assuming solid signal strength). I need to do some more research. Thanks!

IPD - think of it like an airplane. The plane's airspeed varies from the speed relative to the ground, because of the speed of the air through which it moves.

Similarly, Stargazer or Zero Off will accurately track for speed relative to the ground, but if the "air" through which you are moving (the water) is moving (like current of a river), then your speed relative to the water will need to be adjusted based upon if you are moving upstream or downstream.

          Clear as mud?

Are you talking about TexasTige' sales guy that told you that?

Yes it was the guy at Texas Tige. He must have been trained on the old software b/c he was trying to show me how to change names, but could not get it to work. Which now makes sense that he needed to upgrade the software.

            I'm guessing you know him?

I get it. I understand how the GPS works. I was just not thinking clearly about how a non-GPS system speed control works. Thanks!

I heard the 2010 model boats were going to be a little different and there for better......we should all demand a recall on our old boats!

Oh, GM, Dodge, and Ford are all coming out with a more powerful V8 for towing.........i'm demanding a recall on them also!

                    chp,

Your comment about the big three having more horsepower for towing therefore you are demanding a recall is lame ***.
Hell yes Tige should have recalled their Speedset. They did not work worth a $hit and obviously had some bugs to work out.
Call me crazy but when I paid 50,000+ for my 22V I expected the speedset to work on a regular basis not just when it feeled like it.

So, I guess you feel that Mac or MS should issue a recall because thier initial release of a software package didnt work in the real world as they though it should??? There is a HUGE difference in a defect, a part failure, and firmware release not performing to a customer's expectations.

99 ot of 100 peeps dont even understand a recall and when one should be issued, but they sure like to demand one at every corner

Yes, there was room for improvement on the 06 Accu-Set, and the 07 Speed Set was worlds above. If yours didnt work, it was not a recall you needed, it was just a warranty workorder

Want another example: The next gen Ipods worked much better then the 1st gen, so, does everyone that bought a 1st gen deserve a recall simply because Mac improved on a product.........Thats what you are demanding Tige do. Now that's lame @$$, as you put it.

                        Mike,

You are not comparing apples to apples.
I was spending 30 seconds or more at times trying to get the damn speedset to set which caused me to not be able to give my full attention to conditions ahead and also how my rider was doing. I call that a Safety Issue and you obviously see it another way.
The Iroko platforms are more in line with your Ipod comment.

I to have experienced what you have, that's why the boat came with a warranty.......so, again, no need to demand a recall!

Oh, and for those that dont know, the 07/08 Speed Set touch pad is a direct replacement for the 06 Accu-Set.

Let me just finish with this.
I never demanded that Tige recall the Speedset. I said that they should have and that is a big difference.
I sold the 22V a year ago and was just commenting on the thread.

I know it coincided with their move to drive by wire and there was a lag between the availability of drive by wire systems and PerfectPass support for these systems.
