    Difference in Tige Speed Set

I was looking at the 2009 model and the salesman told me that the Tige Speed Set would allow you to set up to 60 something riders names and speeds and save them in the computer. Is saving names and speeds new for 2009 or has it been in earlier models as well?

I dont think that is correct. The new tige speedset allows you to set 5 riders or memory settings with speed set in memory mode. The previous speed set only allowed you to use in manual mode which made you set it everytime you wanted to use it and didnt allow you to name the setting.

      I don't even know 60 riders

Are you talking about TexasTige' sales guy that told you that?
If its not fun, Why do it?

It is only 5 riders. I really think its just as easy to change it manually...the older models did not have that and on the z1 I had you had a really tough time knowing when it engages, theres no beep like most other systems.

Yes, the 2009 Speed Set can set more than one person and save those settings. But, I don't remember how many you can add to the list.

I have PP pro and I can save up to 5 riders but I just change it manually....

How hard is it push the arrow up, push the arrow down on /off and I'm done done.

My Tige speed set on my previous 06 22V was hard to set half of the time. It would flash the light on the bezel and not let you set the speed. It drove me mad and no matter what I tried to do differently it would just not allow me to set the speed. I did not know this was a problem with these until mid 07. I also did not like the fact you could not program riders into these units.
I am glad to hear that Tige figured this problem out although I think they should have done a recall on the 06 speed sets.
I now have the perfect pass stargazer in my Avy and look foward to a more user friendly situation. The only thing I need to do is compensate for the difference when I am on the river because of the current. The lake is no problem at all.
                Long live the VVVVVVVVVVVV.
Although me, my wife and dog likes the non sloped AVY over my 22V. It is easier for us to put our wakeboards on and our dog is jumping up to the boat and down to the platform with ease.

Isn't the Star Gazer GPS-based? If so, you shouldn't have to compensate for current, correct?

The GPS Models still have a paddle wheel. I have zero off on my boat and I have heard of the same problems. I am on a lake so I dont have anything to worry about though.
I always thought the old PP worked fine, and to be honest that worked 10 times better than the speed set on the 08 Z1 I had. I also drove a heavily loaded down 22Ve 2008 and found it didnt like to set quite as easy as they claim. All in all I think the beep and letting you know that it engages on the Zero Off and PP work better.

I thought Tige fixed the Speedset in 07 but obviously I was wrong according to highrock in his post. Hopefully Tige has fixed it for 09.
The PerfectPass website for the Stargazer states and I quote, "The paddle wheel is no longer required." My Avy is not hooked up to a paddle wheel.
I cannot speak for zero off but Stargazer does NOT hook up to the paddle wheel.
The satelites cannot compensate for the rivers current. but all it takes is hitting the up or down arrows to take care of that.

Your boat may have a paddle wheel but the GPS speed control doesnt use it. (in most cases)

GPS measures "Speed over ground" so you would have to compensate for a current in a river. Going downstream your "Speed over water" is too slow and upstream its too fast. We just sold one of the Stargazers to a customer and it is a very nice system. The new speed set is better than the old one and the problem with pre-programmed speeds with the old speed set system was with the Marine power computer on the engine. (At least thats what I was told) I was also told the 09 system is prewired to use a PP Stargazer if you choose. (but speed set is included in the price of the boat) According to the man from PCM.

Let me help out with this one. On all 2009 Ve's and RZ models you have the option to have 5 pre-sets on your Tige Speed Set. You have the ability to add names and speeds to all 5 of those pre-sets. Some of the very first versions of the software had 60 or more pre-sets. If you have a 2009 with 60 or more pre-set options give me a call at 325-829-8676 and I can figure out a way to get your software updated.

Having 60 presets and then upgrading to 5 presets??? Sorry Tony, that is a downgrade.

What is the benefit of reducing the number of presets???
