Hey just wondering what any Tige' owners are doing to secure their boats and or gear. I have a lift (14 total slips on a community dock) that i leave my boat on all year and just recently i had my NVS Entity tower speakers stolen. We have the drive into the area gated and locked, as well as a locked gate on the ramp to the dock itself. But as anyone knows if someone else really wants what you have then they will find a way to get it. I am wondering what to do to secure the area further (besides sleeping in the boat under the cover with a gun in hand). We have lights and of course power to the area but the closest dock owner residence (mine) is 200 yards away and there are some trees blocking a direct view. I am planning on thinning out the trees to obtain a better visual of the dock area but i cant sit there and watch the area 24/7. any suggestions would be appreciated

I put a shock alarm on my boat but it does not go off when it is on the lift. It is very sensitive when on the trailer.
Motion sensor on the flood lights and light the whole place up. Only problem is that they could shoot the lights with a pellet gun if they really wanted to.
Webcam but you would have to make it small or the thiefs might find it and steal it. You would also have to figure out a way to get the video to your house. 200 yards is a long way to send a wireless video signal.
You could get an alarm that has motion in the boat and will call a pager when it goes off.
There are definitely things you can do. It just depends how much you want to spend. Overall, if they want it badly, they will take it and there is not much you can do about it.If its not fun, Why do it?

You can purchase an alarm. The alarms that they have now have remotes that if someone is trying to get close or entering your boat, it will notify you up to .5 miles by sounding an alarm. (example: http://www.acmetopsandtunes.com/security.html)
As for you NVS's, they have quick disconnects for them so you can take them off.

but i guss now after having them stolen i will have to connect/disconnect them each time. I thought about a alarm with a pager but was not sure about the sensativity and having it go off all the time. I would like to put a camera with a feed to my computer but the distance is what i'm worried about.

Did you ever see the James Bond where the car exploded when the bad guy tried to break the window with a gun? I’m just saying……
The problem with my idea is most all this stuff happens from people that know people that know us.
I thought about putting a tracker in some sort of box and making the electronic fence small. But I don't think a judge would like me playing policeman. (with a gun and anger)
$20-$30 mo.

Harbor freight has the fake security cameras with a little red led that blinks. They are only like $10. I remember seeing some actual security cameras at sams last summer that were not at all expensive, then you could just get extra cable to run to your house, if your community/neighbors would allow it. Or is there a shed or building by the docks at all? Just have it record on a loop and get it when you need it?

A big mean junkyard dog!
Seriously, any system designed to cause bodily harm to the culprit, no matter how satisfying, is probably illegal and will result in a trip to the hoosegow and a big civil lawsuit.
(Unless the perp and all the evidence ended up at the bottom of the lake........ I'm just saying)
