Thinking of ditching the keys. Anyone here tried one or a diy switch. I know I can just install a push button but I want some kind of security.

I could never remember the door code to one of my trucks and we used it daily.
Like Jason I would ask why or is it worth the expense? If it is then have fun and do it. I would go crazy punching in a code thru out the day. DO they have a user set able on time so while changing riders you don't have to punch code again for next rider?

Valid concerns this is why I asked if anyone has used one. Because I have not but it sounds like a good idea still to me.

#1 Reason,
Never having to mess with tightening that damn nut to hold the ignition switch in place again!
Why Tige doesn't loc-tite these things in from the factory, I'll never know!Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

Just kinda seems like one more thing I'd have to monkey with but I can understand the logic. If it is indeed like Zad says with the lock/unlock status that would make it much more desirable. Turning a key is too much easier than punching in a code every single time.Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

The pessimist in me doesn't see a good value in something that will get used on average 3 weekends a month and 1 or 2 1 week vacations.
Our season for water sports is short and cruising adds May and September and maybe a bit of October.
A real quick check on price puts the Marine grade keless ignitions at $299 and up From what I read you use different codes to start, stop, accesories etc. Between the cost and the various functions you need to remeber codes for I will use my trusty key or hotwire.Last edited by MoneyPity; 03-23-2009, 06:42 AM.

Well at 47 coming up on 48 real fast my eyes are going and I never seem to be able to see my keys
Yes at 300 it would be a waste for me but at 127.99 not to bad. http://www.westmarine.com/1/1/28245-...ry-marine.html
I probably am out twice a week. But you cant look at it that way. If you do who could justify tens of thousands for a boat they use a few times a month any ways still need some questions answered.

I think its a great idea. The reality is that the keys never come out of my boat and seems more likely to get lost at the bottom of the lake than protect me.
Also I beleive the key pad can control many relays and in turn connect and disconnect multiple batteries along with anything else you need it to do kinda like a control center for your boat.NC//OKC\\
