    Finally back online from Afghanistan

Hey everyone, I have been waayy out of touch for a while, but just got hooked up to the net on a Vsat system so I can finally surf TigeOwners.com

Nice to hear the economy hasn't ruined everyone's enthusiasm for the boating season. Can't wait to get back home and put the boat in the water.

Nice to be back, safe boating to everyone.

Since I know these threads are boring without pictures, here is one. I work for the US State Dept Counter Narcotics Task Force in Helmand, Afghanistan.

            Be safe

I know I'm not the only one thinking it...that is one serious atv! Makes the polaris I rip around the farm on look like a hot wheels! I guess if I rode around with an assault rifle that would help things a little

LOL, yes Ammo can Ballast and I am putting some tower speakers on soon. I do use the 'rope rewinder' quite often as these Polaris' break down quite often. I think they are pretty good ATV's, it is just the environment and conditions in which we use them that cause them to break. I do wish I had a Honda.

I would think they drive system (belt driven) would be the weak link but the most common part to break is the rear axles and control arms. I am not sure the weight limit of these things but am pretty sure we exceed it 90% of the time. I carry about 150lbs of ammo, I am 220lbs, my body armor is about 40 lbs, and my backpack is 65lbs.

I will say that we use Ford F350 trucks, both armored and soft skin, and they hold up amazingly well in this environment. Built Ford tough is pretty accurate. This one hit a land mine.

And below here is proof positive that anything can get stuck....

I'm kinda liking the noise maker in front of your right foot. That's right, I almost missed the SAW. How fun is that too shoot? I've shot M16's, M4's, MP5's, M60's, 50BMG (ma deuce) and a 25mm chain gun. All were a blast, too bad the Coast Guard didn't get the SAW till after my commitment was done.

Thanks for doing what you do...you da man!!!! we should all

The SAW is a great weapon. I carried an M60 and M240 but for what I do the SAW is perfect. It is light enough to carry as a personal weapon in addition to the M4, has easy to attach drums so you dont need an assistant gunner really. The rate of fire is very intimidating, especially for that intial contact where you need to put lead on target. And we take alot of contact, so we use what works and dump what doesn't.

I have carried one the whole time I have been here, along with the M4, and as long as you keep it clean it is flawless... Thanks for the kind words dude, much appreciated.

I "flew a desk" in the U.S.A.F. that consisted of two challenging years of battling bikinis in the Tampa/Clearwater, FL area before defending against the misty rain of Oxford, England for three years. During this time (1985-1991), I also brought down the Berlin wall.

I have no clue what our military and government employees like you are going through in the environments that you are deployed in right now. However, above and beyond the normal thoughts and prayers, I must admit that every time I am at an event where I stand for our national anthem, I fight back tears thinking of all who are out there right now and those who have already served.

                            THANK YOU!!!

BTW - Great Pics! You make it look easy.

Thanks Dude! So nice to hear. I was in the Army during alot of the same time you were, Mid 80's and on. We served under the same Presidents, Reagan was my favorite for sure!

I sometimes wish I was still in, I work side by side with the US Army and miss it but time passes....I am glad to be able to still contribute in some way.

Here are a few more pics you may find cool, or not...Take care, someone go get my 22i out of storage and in my slip for me!
