I thought the same thing and I only pull my boat a couple hundred yards from the boat parking to the Ramp most of the year. I do make a couple long trips each year and that's when the diesel really earns her keep, plus as an everyday drive I get better gas mileage then the 5.3, I do have some mods done to be able to do this. But either way, that sure is a nice truck, and its the truck for you. I still like it and at least your supporting the economy in a time that many can't.

First off that's a great truck, got an '07 myself and it tow's just fine with the 5.3L, i'm somewhere around 4,600lbs loaded generally between boat and bed and in tow mode it hauls azz. I also got the 4x4 for those slippery ramps here in Cali when the waters low!

I said the same thing, don't need a diesel and i still stand by it. One, diesel is more than gas here and unless your towing over 5,000lbs what's the diff. Besides here they buy diesels so they can jack 'em up, be cool and make lots of unneccessary noise and smoke.

I have the 5.3. It tows very smooth but I find the get up and go a little slow compared to my previous 5.4 F-150. But I like the overall towing much better on the Silverado though.

I have owned two diesels before and if you're not towing heavy loads often its not worth the extra cost of gas and oil changes.

I must say though, my favorite truck was my 2003 Power Stroke diesel 4x4. But it was way too much truck for a daily driver and towing my boat down the street and back.

I am not saying its a bad truck at all, I would probably own one myself if I didn't tow a goose neck. Your right about those idiots that don't use there trucks what they were made for. I work on a farm and you would never see that dumb **** around here. Lifting a truck only cuts down on what you can tow. oh sorry to hear you live in Cali, great state just WAY to expensive for me.

Was your Power stroke the 7.3l or the 6l? That was the last year for the 7.3 right?
Your right it can be a lot for a daily driver.
I am really interested to find out more about this truck.

If this truck turns out to be as good as they say. It will be the perfect boat owner truck. not to big, not to small and all the right power.

I've been keeping an eye on the heavy halfs and hope they come through. The only thing I would like to see is Dodge use the cummins 4bt instead of a v8 design. But, gotta stay ahead of the pack some how and I think 5.0 L will do that. I guess the v8 will be oriented more towards city driving/folks.

and yes 2003 was the last year for the 7.3L.
and they shoulda kept it too.

I have a 2007 duramax and love the heck out of it, i pull my boat, a car trailer occasionally and my enclosed 26ft snowmobile trailer and love the way it pulls but think i am getting rid of the diesel for a new body chevy half ton pickup or tahoe soon, just dont need the diesel but i will miss it a lot.

Let me know when you do sell it. I like the new interior much more then mine, the gauge cluster is so much better then the 06 and older.

Yeah personally i'd rather live in Colorado but it's cold there! Cut's down my boating time! Got family in Colorado Springs, nice state.

Congrats on the new truck! I have been really pleased with mine over the last year - it just turned 30,000. We have rolling hills here and I tow about 35 miles one way - I would not hesitate to buy the 5.3 again. I did install a K&N cold-air intake and Gibson on my truck and can tell a significant improvement in overall performance. The stereo upgrade worked out great thanks to chpthril; only complaint is I can't hear my custom exhaust.
