Box anchor?

Buddy at work went scavenging along the shore at Folsom at its lowest. Came home with three anchors, one a box. All had bungees on them. You know, kid or wife unclips bungee from boat, oops -- anchor, bungee, and clip gone in 60 feet of murky water.

My first boat came with a marine readyness package i.e life preservers, anchor, retrieving / docking pole. a paddle, first aid kit and flares.

The anchor was a Fluke style Aluminum Anchor with 10 ft chain and 100 feet of rope. We have used it in mud, sand, seaweed and rocks of Bullshoals and Table Rock. We also have a box anchor we picked up at a flea market and I tend to prefer the fluke as long as I have enough rope to establish a long rode from boat to anchor. I prefer it soley on cost if there is a chance of loosing the anchor. We have come close to loosing both of our anchors to getting entangled in the sunken trees common to the reservoir lakes of Northern Arkansas to South West Missouri. The Aluminum flukes style anchor is not as expensive as a good folding box anchor but it also takes more room to store on board. If where I am anchored might loose the anchor I will use the fluke style since they cost less other wise I prefer the box for holding power.

On rocky bottoms the fluke style anchors don't grab well in rock. We have better luck with the box in that type of condition.

I have a "small" box anchor and am looking to upgrade to the large box anchor now. The RZ2 is much bigger and heavier than my last boat. Anyone have a "large' box anchor they wanna sell??

I have both slide and box anchor and love theme! They work awsome.

I really like that slide anchor. I just got a keel guard too so no more backing it in at Havasu.

I have a small and a large. I ussually only use the small unless I go on the river.

Awesome anchor, check your local dealer. I could never find a website that sold it for cheap. But its worth every penny.

Box Anchor FTW!!!

Baby Box anchor is for like, bass boats. Small box anchor is rated for 18-30 feet in length. Pretty much covers all of us. Anything bigger is overkill. I have a small and can't wait to try it out. Paid $167 for it.

well - i got the small box this season and I have tested it out twice now...

If I had it to do over - I would get the large. It is awesome, but in 20 mph wind - I still drift.

I'm not buying that the large is overkill - for the price difference, go large.
