    Wakeboard racks

I have a set of wake design brand racks and the rubber straps on them turn everything they touch black. I tried to clean them with simple green last night and now my hands are stained black and they are still the same. Anyone else deal with this and what cleans them? They are still in good condition except for this problem and don't really want to spends the money on another pair when these are like new.

The 2006 Wake Design racks with the rubber are warranty issues that Tige will take care of. If you didn't purchase them from Tige, you could call the company (http://www.wakedesigns.com/) and see if they will warranty them directly or you could purchase new ones.

Have you called W/D to see if the rubbers are still available? I'd start there as you really wont find anything to clean them as it's the rubber deteriorating due to sun and ozone exposure.

His profile says he has a 1996 PRE. Also, the 3yr warranty would be for factory installed racks and not over the counter/dealer sold.

Ops, I see that the OP registered with the site recently. Was thinking that he could have purchased a new boat and didn't update his profile but he probably put the correct boat into the database on tigeowners.... My bad

You're right, he could be on his 2nd (or more) Tige.

I do have a 96 that I bought last year. I'm sure it was all after market since my tower is a Joystick and the racks were Wake Designs so probably no warranty. I did look up there website to get a number and I got an automated voicemail that doesn't say anything about the company. Figured they might not be around anymore. I just put up with it last year but I have a feeling if I keep it up it will be all over my seats and that would suck.

Post a pic of the racks! I have 3 unused W/D forks with the updated rubbers (that weren't made by W/D from what I remember). May be able to help you out!

I had the rubber and bought a bungie type replacement directly from Wake Designs- cost about $25 per rack.

RL - I did the same thing, replaced the rubber ones with bungee straps and they even send the little caps with them. http://www.wakedesigns.com/Item.asp?IID=42

How is the bungie straps working out? Do you know if the loop that holds the strap onto the fork will hold or do you think that the bungie will break there? The first generation of the strap, there were a few owners that were concerned that the straps would break/fall apart and shoot back and hit the person in the face or eye when it recoiled.
