New Carb.

I am looking at maybe getting a new carb for my bizzoat. I am selling it so I don't want to poor a lot of money into it. It's the MP 310hp I believe, 1998 PRE2100WT. Any good recomendations for a decent price?

Have it rebuilt! There are very few reasons why the carbs would need to be replaced as apposed to rebuilding.

ditto^^ you hardly EVER have a legit reason to all out replace a carb. In worst case scenario, it might need to be dipped into muriatic acid for 1 or 2 seconds...any longer and you wouldn't have a carb at all, but is there any reason in specific you feel you need a new carb?

Mainly because I don't want to mess with it. I would like to just pull one off and put a new one on and be done with the whole thing really. I could rebuild it or go through and clean it out but I have spent the last year away from the water and really don't want anything to hold me back. I am still not sure but I just wanted to find out what kind of cost I am looking at for a new carb. Then I will decide what I want to do.

Have a local shop rebuild it for you, shouldn't take more than a couple days for a lot less. Slap on new gaskets and go. New MArine carbs are not cheap, twice as much as a car carb.

Also, hopefully you don't have the Carter/Weber AFB carb. Mercruiser only used them a few years but a new one is $750 and a rebuilt (if anyone actually has one) is anywhere from $260-300!

I had a mechanic out of Granbury that would work on all my boats on the side and would do it for a good price. I can get you his name if your interested on having it rebuilt.

if I may ask, what problem are you having with the current carb?

Yeah after looking into it I think I will just rebuild it myself. Just one more thing to take onto my list of things. It's a holly carb and I could do it in my sleep, just trying to be lazy, that's all. lol

As for the problems, really, I think it is either just a clogged port or water in the bowl. Sometimes at idle it will choke out and die, some days it works fine, others you are constanly starting the boat while while bringing the rope back to a fallen rider.

Ive seen very few reman'd carbs (even a couple sold as "New") that were plug-n-play. They need just as much setup/adjustment once on the engine as the rebuilt one. I've even had to take a couple apart and fix........reset float, bad TPS, reset mixture control solenoid, etc.
