Plus, you said they still have boat inventory.

Sounds like they're still open for business. Sure, they might not order new from factory, but WTH, if they've still got salable inventory maybe things will look better by summer...

Heck, we just got another five feet of snow in the Sierra from this storm.

Sorry to hear about CWS, any dealers that are closing and that more people are losing jobs. We wish all manufacturers, businesses, employees and people the best. We are in business and doing fine. We are open Monday through Friday 10:00am - 6pm and Saturdays 10:00am - 4:00pm and Sundays by appointment. We have been selling boats, doing service, installing towers and stereo systems. We have seen an increase in our service business because Olympic Boat Center (Bayliner that was up the street from us) and Cope and McPhetres / Ultimate Water Sports have closed. If we can provide service or assistance for any TigeOwners members, your friends, colleagues or neighbors, please let us know.

        Thank You, Dave

Thanks for the thoughts. My wife and I appreciate them. We are fortunate in some ways. We were able to get our daughters on their feet and the one in the Physical Therapy Field should do OK. She graduated with her masters last spring. Our eldest we are concerned for but she is hitting night school to earn an accounting degree. At least the younger of the two buckled down and with our financial help with tuition and transportation( hell her Jeep is newer than mine) she will be OK so PJ, (my wife of nearly 30 years) , and I only need to deal with what to do with our 8 year old house and our Labs and Dachshunds.

At this point we need to ride out the mortgage and banking crisis's so we are looking at how I might consult to get us some time for me to land a managerial role (less $$$) in another electronics or software firm. The beginning of my career was designing CPU based z80, Z8000 and 808xx hardware. We have some near term plans that will hold us
over for about 6 months unless she looses her retail job.

We will need to map out further than 6 months and get things in motion now. I have that much of a cushion based on a small share of stock in the company which when converted to cash will give me a short term safety net so I can evaluate options and go from there. I need more than just the selling of toys to make it so I am not even putting the gay boat on market until after my Th anniversary. Selling the toys will buy a little time but i won't put the 20V on market until Midwest summer hits. My 20V is part of an equity loan that is not the concern. Mortgage, Auto insurance and utilities are the killer numbers for my 2600 sf house with 3 car garage. Kitty corner to us is the same model with similar upgrades without third stall or fireplace so we will watch it and look at what is goes for. Depending where their number falls we keep or sell. If we keep I may do what I did when younger and work multiple jobs. 2 on weekdays and one on weekends until I get picked up. Tech positions in the Windy City area have always been tough.

My employer from 25 years when I came out of college and Marines is offering a design position but it is in chp's back yard. I could commute home on weekends so it is a thought if prospects in my area are as slim as I think for my talent. Time will tell and per PJ's wisdom Its is What it Is and we will do what we can even if it means starting over without adding kids).

I was watching a trash news show of doom and gloom while in Dallas tonight and heard that we may have issues with FDIC being able to cover our savings. With low interest on Bank savings that money is moving somewhere where Obama and Wall street along with banking cannot hurt it. I am now trying to decide how to move my 401k since I am not employed full time. IRA makes sense but if FDIC collapses than I am hurt badly as well as others.

Where can I protect my 401k money without killer penalties. All the money in mine is in MM funds but if FDIC falters we are screwed !!!!

Good news though, I talked with a Management contact at Tige and the contact and company feel that they can ride this out.. Quote from a contact

We're going to see more of this and I too will be out of work in 2-3 weeks, shutting down the business. Unfortuneately we're a victim of the current economy and the serious downturn the the construction/glass industry.

My wife of over 30 years will be the breadwinner, and i'll be filing for unemployment for the first time in over 20 years! I don't have much 401K left since the market fixed that one! But i don't have much in the way of bills either. Wife says we can make it on unemployment and we DON'T have to sell the boat! Yeeha! Best news all day.

With Obamas new plans i can collect for two years at max payout if i have to, along with my Federal Disability i'm good, unless they stop paying that out!

So as a disabled vet I think i'm going after the VA for federal occupational retraining, something i can coast along with for another ten years or so and retire, the knees won't let me do anything to strenuous anymore. Hopefully that is.

Sounds like you need to go back to the VA and get that disability rating increased I know, bad joke....

Sorry to hear about that Razz. Losing a job is never fun and that will make you and XPJim off a payroll now. But, the bright spot is that you get to keep the boat.

I am glad you should be able to keep the new boat. Unemployment for me does squat and PJ although she works it was never to do more than supplement vs being able to replace. old quote " life sucks then you ___"
We will find a solution depending on some boat vs Tahoe issues vs Tige.

So many choices which way do we go......

Thanks guys, i'll survive one way or another. The bad part is while things will get better, they'll never be the same. The world as we know it has changed and i'm afraid the days of excess are gone. I know some bought homes low hoping to make some money when they retired or so like me. Heck I'll be lucky to be able to sell it for half of what it was last year! The value of everything is shot for that matter. And now they've reported this morning a glut of oil worldwide! Go figure huh!

One thing about this, a bummer, is that since CWS came around, I started to notice this summer that I was seeing a lot more Tiges. There is a big market up here normally I think with Lake Shasta and such, but Tiges were very poorly represented until more recently. Now I think its going to be mostly Tiges, malibus, centurions and supras, all very well represented in Redding.
