    tower replacement

I have a 2005 24v with a tower. My boat house is about 4" too low which requires us to put the tower down. The new Tige towers are lower and would fit into our boat house without lowering. I love my 24v and thinking about replacing the tower, but not sure about the holes to fill in and all that goes with the replacement. Maybe I just need to upgrade in boats.
Does anyone have any idea about the new towers and the replacement process. thanks Mike

Are you referring to the Alpha tower????

You'd be looking at biggggg $$$$$$$$$$$$. And then you'd have to do alot of reinforcing to support it. Not sure about the cable system, if it goes below the rail or how all that works.

Shops usually charge around $400-$600 to patch the old holes if you can't do it yourself.

For the cost of that particular tower, you'd be better off getting a new boat honestly. No point in putting on a tower that will be over 30% of the value of your boat.

Might try looking at other tower manufacturers.

Check with Ragboy. He dumped his Tige E-Series last year for a Sampson Switchblade on his 24VE.

I trashed my stock Tige tower on my 20V when I went under a low carport and tore of the horizontal bars. The cost for the replacement tower was over $4K and then I had labor to add on top. My Samson is about an inch or 2 lower than the stock tower. I cannot speak as to the Switchblade.

Both are sweet towers and they are customized to deal with your existing mounts. If you have a dealer who has sold and installed them they are a great choice because they are easy to fold. But, if you local dealer has never worked with one the cost of install may be high. Mine was very expensive but I was lucky with insurance coverage.

If you put 6K into a new tower and that was 30% of the value of your boat...then the boat would only be worth 20K. It is probably worth more than that, but the point being, it might not be worth as much as you owe, if you financed.

I agree with the Alpha Z is not a good option for that boat.

I would check with Samson, though. Great tower and it folds so easy, you won't mind putting it down like the current tower.
        Be excellent to one another.

          Hi Mjohnson,
Have you considered getting your boat house raised? I'm not sure how it's made but we have had some boathouse builders on our local lake cut and weld and raise the roof of some of our customers over the years. I like the looks and ease of the new tower but Monsters towers are pretty inexpensive and easy to drop. We have a trade-in 24V with a Monster tower in our boat house right now but not as good looking as the new ones.

            Tall,

I thought the alpha Z was closer to $8K but maybe 6K is right. Then another $1K for install (that's what most the dealers around here get for tower installs). Your right around $7K... I was figuring his boat was worth around $25K. But just guessing.... I don't really know anymore in terms of costs...lol. They seem to drop in value daily.

Samson Towers are great but the Razor is 4K + options like lights speaker wiring and speakers. anodized cost more than power coated. They are a tad lower than Tige Towers and they might custoize one for you that cannot sit higher than x inches raised or folded. They worked with e to make sure when folded that mine would make it thru my 82-83 inch height of y door. They make a great product but is pricey. They give a little off of web pages but not much.

              Good luck,

i'm with you on raising the garage door. raise the header and add a panel to the door it would be a whole hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new tower
