Normally around Easter for me. Depends on water and air temps. I tend to lock up when the water is really cold and have hurt myself a few times....it's not worth just waiting for warmer temps. I have a full, spring and jackets but still.....I'm 40 and not insulated well!

Here is my brief review of the Company Recruit.

I have only ridden one other "flex board" mostly because I don't want to have to buy another board. The other flex board I rode was a LF Press. I hated it. I couldn't even figure the thing out. It felt completely foreign to me. The only thing I did like about it was how it rode on complete butter. Made it feel like a snowboard on powder. This experience pretty much ended my flex board relationship. I had no inclination to ride a Slingshot even though my buddy has three in his garage and I could care less about Company's release.

My buddy ended up getting a Company Recruit and set of Company bindings and brought them out on Saturday. I figured I would give it a shot and ride the new board brand that everyone over on WW has been oogling about.

The Bindings - Best fit I have ever had on my fit. Super snug around the foot, but not to the point of making your feet go numb. They did lack the ankle support I like but the snugginess around the feet made up for it.

The Board - Super smooth. It could have a little more pop to it, but I am sure that can be fixed with learning how to work with the flex. The landings were amazing, soft and forgiving. It put a huge smile on my face. You could land tail heavy and the flex would ease you out of it, instead of jamming your back ankle. I even took a few out into the flats for fun.

All in all, if I was giving one I would definately rock it.

I forgot to add that my buddy has ridden all three flex boards and rates them in this order.

          1) SS Response
          2) Company Recruit
          3) LF Press

I guess I will need to try out the Response. We both agreed that the FL Press was horrible.

The water in Key West is 75F and climbing. When it hits 79F, the season starts. (which puts it somewhere around March 28 thru April 5th).

What was your focal stop and lens MM? Curious?

It was a Canon 40D, with a 28-135mm lens. Not sure what the fstop was on the shots.

My season doesnt stop really, we went in december when the water was 65-68 at a lake that has a power plant on it.

We normally ride in March, water in the upper 50's, wetsuits on. Usually by Mid april waters in the upper 60's and nothing but shorts on then.
