The Merc likes Merc 25w40 and you will have a drain hose coming off the bottom of the oil pain.

It may not be necessary but we always punched a hole in the top of the oil filter.

And the oil line is supposed to be clipped here,

Punching a hole in the filter will dribble oil all over ... wait, damn, that filter's mounted upside down. Guess I'd do the same.

Get a drill driven pump and hook it to the drain line. It takes about 15 minutes. Otherwise, you're looking at days for it to drain with a cold engine. You'll need five quarts with the filter. I use 20-50 Castrol.

I used the merc synth blend. U will need 5 quartes. I used the boat put it in storage and pulled the oil drain that night and then went back next morning and closed drain and filled oil and changed filter.

You can also get a vaccume evacuator if you want a good tool to do it. It hooks up a air compressor.

I did not do the 20 hour check the dealer did so I am wondering does the 20V with 340HP Marine Power have an oil drain line or is it the old fashioned pump out way. I have a good pump, the Tempo Oil Boy Extractor that I used on my previous I/O. You can get all the oild out in about 10 minutes once you get a godd vacumn pull going.

MP, it does have a oil drain line and you will NOT punchure a hole in your oil filter. The filter is located on the starboard side on the lower part of the engine. The oil drain line is located towards the port side towards to the bow on the engine.

Will take pictures if you need me to to explain.

No I think I got it. I can recognize an oil filter and now that you have described location of drain hose I am set. I would never puncture the oil filter
If it is as slow as chp says then I will use my extractor.

Now if I can only figure out where this silver box MP sent back to me after the flashing for the speedset surging issue. I think it bolts on just in front of Air cleaner. j/k

                      Happy Sunday all.

I would use your extractor. It is much faster.

it doesn't drip oil all over even though it's upside down. Just wait a few days after the last use, put a towel around the bottom of the filter and you will be fine.

a VERY helpful tip if you don't have an extractor... use the air compressor and pressurize the ystem via the dipstick tube. I'll crank up the motor for 5-10 min and let her idle then do this and it works very well.
