What do use to strip and Wax??

    Uhhhhhh......................




    I wash my boat once or twice a year. I bought used so I would not have to get into the whole "my boat is shinier than yours" deal. It looks OK, runs great (most of the time) and gets the job done. Maybe after the recession/depression dealio is over, I can go big! and shiny!

      It is not to expensive to go big and shinny with the Flitz

          I didn't have time to read the whole thread but here is what I did to get the water spots off my newly purchased used boat...

          1) Washed boat
          2) Machine buffed with Meguiars Oxidation Remover & remove.
          3) Heavily reapplied Ox Remover by hand to problem areas (lots and lots of elbow grease)
          4) Drink a beer before next steps

          Once I was happy with removal of spots....
          5) Applied by hand 3 coats of Polish...Used Polish with gelcoat safe PTEF & removed. I am actually very very happy with the ease of applying and removing and provided a great finish.
          6) Applied by hand 3 coats of Carnuba Wax & removed.

          The polish and wax I apply very light coats...a nice trick to help achieve a lighter coat is to use a damp cloth. The reason I did so many coats was because of the subpar shape the exterior was in when I got it.

            x2. Well said. Although even after this mess turns around, I am sticking with the old girl. She still looks great and runs great.

              Wow that is a lot of work. I will post pic of my boat tonight or tomorrow showing how it looks. Like I said I don't do a lot to it.

                Yea it was a lot of work...but it was worth it for a few reasons:
                - I just bought the boat and it needed some cleaning up.
                - It was a beautiful day to be outside.
                - It needed it & now looks great.
                - It was a chance to get away from the GF for a few hours .
