Just came across this video of the new Bu, they talk about the power wedge new function, auto wedge. "To save gas, Malibu has introduced the Auto Wedge that reduces the time it takes to get on plane and reduces deflect angle when turning, reducing fuel consumption by up to one-third. For safety reasons, the wedge can only be operated while the boat is in gear."
So to their own accord the previous wedge drag mechanism puts enough strain on the boat that slightly adjusting it on cornering saves 1/3 the gas. How much gas does it use during nl functions. Also apparently it is not safe when boat is out of gear.
At the Tulsa boat show, which they claim is one of the top 10-15 largest boat shows inland in the country, and I would believe it, took us nearly 2 hours to walk the parameter with out getting on any boats, anyway the Bu's where there, they seem to have alot of metal speakers, rails, cup holders in the seat, I wonder what they feel like when it is 100 degrees and sunny outside on your bare skin. The new LCD monitor that they have in the dash does look cool, however, I wonder if you can see it when the boat is out in the direct sun light. Boat does have alot of bling bling attention getting though. How functional it all is with the above mention is another issue.
