I have 1/4 inch between the taps and the exhaust at the closest point. The angle is a little flexible. I changed mine a little so I did not have to grind out my deck at all. I am going to submit the change to FAE on it so they can maybe make the change.

Do you mind sharing these changes for those of us that haven't installed yet?

Did anyyone that got their FAE from this group buy get the sleeves for the mounting bolts? Did you have to pay extra and select that as an option?

I got the sleeves. They were a pain to cut but they're on there.

Like Nick said, I have had it on both of my boats through XP's group buys. My wife no longer worries about exhaust, the boat is uber' quiet, and it does not effect speed, wake, turning capabilities...........we have been very happy!!!

When the wife is happy, everyone is happy.
We went cruising Sat night up the intercoastal for dinner, everyone raved how quiet the boat was......AND no exhaust fumes. To prove how quiet FAE is, Flipper came and joined us for a couple of minutes jumping our wake (we were cuising ! 15mpg). If you ask me, these boats should come standard with FAE.

Does the FAE have internal flappers or do you keep the flappers that you already have?

I got the sleeves. They were a pain to cut but they're on there.

Did you have to go out of your way to select that as an added option and pay extra. I guess I made the failed assumpstion that they would include that.

I didn't get in on it. I'm still on the fence since I love the sound of the boat but sometimes want it quiet - we need a "Captains Call FAE" system!

That was my thought at first. But then I thought about how much money i dumped into my stereo and how annoying it was that my wife would never turn it up loud enough while pulling me, cause the "screaming (metal) is too loud". So if I can't turn the volume up, gotta turn the boat down!!!!

What's the point of dumping money in to a stereo if you don't turn it up loud.

The point is for it to be loud, not look loud.

No flappers, you remove them and insert the metal flanges in there place.
