That looks like what FedEx brought me yesterday. I need to get my Quick Disconnects thought. I think they forgot to put them in the box. Mine is on my boat with the exception of a few details that I need to work out. I will have it done by Next Friday with out any problems though.

I forgot to order the Quick disconnects but I won't be installing till Late April or early may.

One thing that some of you may experience is water (spray) coming up between the teak deck and the back of the boat after the install of the FAE. To stop this, I attached a piece of heavy rubber with two pieces of stainless steel (one on each side of center) to the teak deck and let the rubber "roll up" on to the fiberglass. This stopped the spray and you can't see the "gasket". I believe I posted a couple of pictures of the "gasket" with my install shots with the first group buy.

My FAE was the best item ever purchased for my Tige.

Indexing the down-tube and then moving in/out in 1/4" increments will help reduce the spray. It may take a couple of trips out to get it right, unless you want to adjust a little while in the water and ride some more.

I hear talk about back pressure with these systems, If I'm not mistaken my 340 marine power has no mufflers at all, so no back pressure there. I know you would be going from two 3" exhaust ports into one 3" outlet, but I have a 8.1 litre big block chevy truck that farts out of a 3" exhaust with muffler, cat conv. and is probably 10' long I dont think its much of an issue. Im def. considering building one for my 22ve'.

Well, if these boats had O2 sensors, I would measure the back pressure. In a car, with cats and a muffler, the typical exhaust back-pressure is almost unmeasurable at idle and anything under .5psi at a steady 2k rpm is considered normal. The most Ive seen on a vehicle in perfect working condition (test cars at the school) was 2.5 psi during a snap-throttle to 5k rpm. Once the rpm's leveled off, the needle dropped below 1psi. I dont see any performance gains or hindrance with an FAE when the boat is used within it's normal parameters such as skiing, boarding, surfing and cruising. The only thing lost is noise and a couple MPH's on top in.

Well here is my photos. I made it to the lake today. All I can say is if you don't have one you should be wishing you do. And while your wishing start saving the money. I got into the water expected to hear the boat a little when my wife hit it to pull me out of the water and the only way I knew she had done so was I saw the boat moving. I almost dropped the rope thinking something was wrong with the boat. I thought maybe she add a sail to it and shut off the engine. And man I don't know who upgraded my stereo but wow it is just way to loud now and I can not even get the volume over 1/4 with out it being to loud. Oh and one more thing since the sail was added to the boat and it seems that we can hear more wind than anything we can now talk in our normal voices and hear each other. So now I have now excuses for saying I was talking loud so you could here me when I snap at the kids or wife for no reason. . Anyways it is well worth the money and the effort.

What is the proper angle? How much distance do you have between your taps plate and the fae? I'm hoping to install mine in the next week or so.

I have 1/4 inch between the taps and the exhaust at the closest point. The angle is a little flexible. I changed mine a little so I did not have to grind out my deck at all. I am going to submit the change to FAE on it so they can maybe make the change.
