    Tower speakers for a 2000 21i

I'm thinking about buying the Fusion T-Series for my 2000 21i. They weigh 13 lbs each, and there will be 2 of them....so 26 lbs. total.

My question is about the tower supporting that much weight. I have the stock Metcraft tower. Does anyone have something comparable on their tower? If so, how's the tower holding up? Does it sway excessively?

I'm in Austin, TX and usually ride on Lake Travis or Lake Austin. Both can be very busy, so the water can get fairly rough.

Any info about the Fusion T-Series speakers would be great too.

    Thanks!

Scott, good choice on the tower speakers. I cant say enough good things about mine. I was looking between the Syklon and MB Quarts and the Fusion out did them in sound and looks. The speakers I was comparing to started to have distortion when cranked up but the Fusions seem to hold the power well.

Although I have the single T series and not the combo though. You will probably have a little sway but I dont think it would be too much, I would just be cautious. My tower (should be the same as yours) will sway a little when its really rough and when I have it loaded down with 4 boards. Just tighten your tower often.

Also, I would try to wipe them down occasionally just so you dont have a lot of residue build up like mine did. I spent two hours polishing up two speakers but they look brand new.

      Thanks Matt.

I went with the Fusion's, but I bought the same ones you have. It has one 5 1/4" driver and 1 tweeter. I figured I could always add another set if the tower holds up OK.

I noticed that the smallest tower diameter for the Fusion mounts was 1 5/8", and I believe my tower is 1 1/2", so the tower is about 1/8" too small. Did you have any problems mounting the speakers? If so, what kind of modification did you use?

      Thanks.

I did not have any problems installing my speakers with the provided collars. I just tested each one to see which collar provided the most secure fit. However, the clamps dont form a complete seal around the tower so you will have a very small gap. They are still on the tower very tight and have never moved or come loose on me. I dont remember which one I used though. I think our towers are the same diamter too, I have on 01 Metcraft tower.

The collar inserts are rubber so they provide a secure non scratch fit.

Cool...thanks a lot for the info Matt.

One more question....can you hear your speakers while you're riding? If so, how do they sound?

No problem. I can hear them but they are not that loud that far back. The combos would probably do a better job. I saw that the combos went on sale for 699.95. When I was looking at them last year they were a grand, wish they were that price when I bought mine!

              Scottie,
I have had both the single T series 525’s Fusions and now the T-series combo speakers, they are both excellent speakers. In fact if you haven't already bought the singles I have the pair I took off to put the combo’s on just sitting in the box looking for a good home. I was going to wait till the season began and people started buying boat accessories again before I put them on Ebay, but I'd love to sell them now. They are the Chrome(no maintenance compared to the polished ones) T series 525 speakers found here http://www.fusionsports.com/wakeProducts_speakers.html I had them on the boat for about 2 mths and they would still be there if I hadn't got a smoken deal on the combo's.

Here are a few pictures of them on the boat, if you’re interested my email is kshupe@cox.net

Those are sharp....I'd love to have them, but I just got mine from buywake.com today.

How did you get the chrome? Every website I went to only had polished aluminum.

                    Matt, Scott
Yes Sir, the chrome looks nice but the real payoff is it's VERY easy to care for. No polishing! Just wash em off, dry with a soft towel and you're good to go

                    >>How did you get the chrome?<<
I sent an email to the Fusion folks http://www.fusionsports.com/findADealer.html and they gave me the address of a local Fusion dealer here in Arizona. I didn't know they had the chrome finish until I stopped by their store and saw them. I've been through the "polished billet" vs. "chrome finish" deal with wheels and when I saw the chromies I was sold! They were a little more than the polished, but for me anyway well worth the extra dollars to get the ease of care.
